Chapter 1

It has been three years since I graduated college. I was full of hope and confidence. I was happy.

After a few months, I had to go onto welfare because I had not found a job immediately. It was a small blow to my ego, but I was still sane. I thought it would be a temporary thing and by the next year, I would have a fulfilling job.

Unfortunately, I was wrong. I had to clean and do basic clerical duties to earn my welfare check. Basically, doing jobs I was overqualified for and got easily bored with. It ate away my hope and confidence as time went by, and when they sent me to an employment readiness program that needed major improvements, the cold slap of reality hit me hard. I wanted to be invisible, and for the first time, I realized that I had that ability.

One day, a sudden chill caused me to lose focus, causing me to become visible again. “There you are, my dear sister.” A girl said with a grin as she walked over to me. Looking at her was like looking in a mirror. We looked exactly alike. “Our naughty parents thought it would not be a good idea to raise us together. Obviously, that was the wrong decision. Look at you. You needed me. If you had me growing up, you would not be on welfare.”

I just looked at her, shocked that my parents would not have told me that I had a twin sister. I did not know what to say. “What is your name?” I finally asked.

“Lily, your so-called evil twin.” She replied with a smirk. “You can do more than turn invisible, Lila. Your invisibility is caused by your ability to bend light. I can teach you how to use your power and to use it to get what you want, what you need.”

“What did you have in mind?” Lila asked, curious about what her sister had to say.

“Well, you could sneak into the hiring manager’s office to put your resume on top. You could modify files to get incompetent people fired. If worst comes to worst, you could kill someone without anyone witnessing it.” Lily said with a wicked grin.

I agreed to train with my sister, but I don’t know could I actually kill anyone and meet her expectations. Time will only tell.

His Forsaken Fate

Bargara4670: I have marked the ratings down because it was obviously originally written in a foreign language and translated into English. I hope that whoever edited the second half will go back and do the same to the first half. Having said that, this was a well-thought-out plot which kept me interested enough ...
