Chapter 1 : Moving Away

When I woke up, the whole house was a mess. Dad and Gabby were running around trying to put things in order

"Morning, can you help with those boxes?" Dad said gesturing to a stack of boxes. On top of the boxes was a small red shoe box. I picked up the empty boxes with ease

"Where should I put this? What's going on?" I asked as Gabby raced past me

"Put it in the van" Dad said looking around " Now where did i put that blasted book" he muttered, I walked outside and dropped the boxes into boot

"Will anyone please explain what's going on?" I asked raising an eyebrow. Dad and Gabby exchanged looks, then Dad turned to me and sighed

"We're moving. Surprise!" Dad said with a big forced grin on his face

"Moving?!" I asked in horror. My eyes followed Dad as he dashed around "Why?" I asked "Where are we going? Where would I go to school?. This makes no fucking sense" I frowned, Dad glanced at me

"Language Katherine" He said half-heartedly . I rolled my eyes and slumped into a chair "I'll answer your questions in the car". Gabby moved the remaining boxes outside

"We're all set Mike" She said rubbing my Dad's arm, I looked away "Shall we?" She turned to look at me

"Whatever"I muttered wondering what the heck was going on. I ran a hand through my bedraggled red hair. I followed Dad and Gabby outside " Can we at least eat first?" I begged

"No time. We'll eat on the boat"Dad said getting into the car. I was about the open the passenger door when Gabby slipped inside. I grumbled under my breath and went to the back seat

"Waitamoment. Did you say boat?" I asked not sure I heard correctly. I looked down and noticed the small red box beside me

"Yes I did" Dad answered. Something drew me to the red box, my hand inched slowly towards it. Almost afraid to touch it.

"Where exactly are we going?" I asked, my eyes still focused on the box. I could have sworn it grew a shade lighter and a bit brighter. As my hand lingered over it, it grew eerily warm.

"You'll see" Dad answered. And as my fingers were a mere few inches away from the box, Gabby stretched over and grabbed it. I narrowed my eyes art her but said nothing, as dad pulled out of the driveway and drove into the night. I had a sinking feeling that this was going to be the last time I ever came here.

Sienna Hayes : Hi, I’m Sienna! I read your story and I really liked it. While reading it, I was already imagining the scenes as visuals in my mind. I would love to adapt your story into comic art. I’m really passionate about creating comics, especially adapting stories into visual form. Your story could look amazi...
