“Witch.”

She smiled.

She was wearing a simple white dress and black slippers. On her hat was a large black witch hat, pointed crookedly at the tip. The hat covered half of her face, but as he could still see her prominent features. Bright green eyes like sea glass on a summer day. Long black hair that went down to her knees like strings of silk.

He, on the other hand, was only wearing a white long-sleeved collared shirt and long black slacks, like a businessman without his shoes and his jacket. He was spitting image of his father, with his pure black eyes and unruly jet black hair. His complexion was pale and white like snow, his body skinny and all bones.

“I can help you.”

He glared at her.

The two of them were in the garden his father privately owned, where the nightshade flowers would bloom all year round for some odd apparent reason.

He was at the garden because his father threw him out after a good beating. Luckily he only suffered one black eye and a cut at his lip. Other times had been worse.

She was at the garden because she was bored and decided to sneak into the mysterious garden at the top of the hill. She was always the carefree type, running around and exploring the city on her whims.

“I don’t trust you, Witch.”

She lifted her hand, and he flinched. A soft glow emitted from her finger and a ball of light appeared. It floated in front of him for a split second, and then faded away. When he blinked, the pain on his eye and lip was gone. She had healed him.

“It’s nice to trust in people more.”

“I can’t trust humans. No matter how much I hope, they all backstab me in the end.”

She stood up, and when he glanced up, he saw that she wore two bracelets, one on each wrist. Each was a thin silver chain, and on each chain was a small amethyst flower linked to the chain. Each had five pointed petals, the ornaments glimmering in the light.

“You can trust me. After all-” She twirled around, holding the edges of her giant black witch hat as she did. “-I’m not human.” She stopped twirling and bent down face to face in front of him.

“I’m a Witch.”

Ku_Rolet: The novel was good, and I really enjoyed reading it. I love the leads and their bond, but I have one question that confused me.
