Summary

Anastasia King's number one rule is NO DISTRACTIONS. Yet a certain blue-eyed, bad boy might just end up breaking that rule of hers..... With a dangerous lifestyle, Anastasia King must be on the balls of her feet at all times, so distractions are forbidden. An 18 year old girl, trying to balance school and leading The Kings, will never understand why a blue-eyed, rather good looking boy, would ever distract her from that. He's her distraction and she shouldn't like it. (This is my first ever book, so please don't copy it .)

Mission Accomplished

'bang'

Everything from there felt like the time had stopped. My eyes moved slowly as they traveled along with the flying silver bullet. My breath caught in my throat. What felt like minutes later, I see the bullet make contact with a man. He falls to the floor, blood pouring out of his now open back wound.

People around him stare in horror at the now dead man in front of them

Cries and screams, bring me back to reality. Time unfreezes and I realize what I just did.

"Great shot Ana!", Tommy cheers through my earpiece.

I smile. Taking a large intake of breath, I laugh and look away from my scope.

"Perfect line of fire", I say in a cocky manner, my smile never leaving my face.

" I could have got him if I was set up where you are !", Tommy protests back at me. I can hear the humor in his voice, although the earpiece's signal isn't the best.

I laugh again and pack away my M40 rifle, into the silver metal case. As the locks click closed, a strong hand firmly grips my shoulder.

"Come on, I'll buy you a drink for that one", Tommy says, picking up my case for me.

"Mission completed", I reply smirking. He chucks his head back and laughs, then turns towards the stairs.

"Alright James Bond, come on then". He kicks open the doors, due to his hands being full of the two weapon cases.

I look back over the edge, seeing the 40ft ground below me. With shelter from the overhead balcony. This small apartment building had the perfect view of the high rise opposite it.

I look across to high rise, the glass is shattered from my shot. From the angle of the sun, reflecting on the glass I can't see the faces behind it, but I imagine, they would be horrified.

"Ana?", Tommy shouts from the staircase.

Making my over to the door, I hear the faint sound of sirens in the distance.

"You should have seen their faces", Tommy yells over the noise at the bar. Making unusual but funny faces, to emphasize what happened.

"Was he expecting it?", Matt asks Tommy while taking another swig of his drink.

Tommy and Matt work for me. Tommy is my assistant, while Matt is the head of defensive training. My name is Anastasia, however, I go by 'Ana' at work.

After my parents got assassinated two years ago, I was 'gifted' the Kings.

It was like, "Sorry about the death of both your parents. Here have a gang."

Because my grandfather created the Kings. He passed it onto my parents and they passed it onto me.

The man I killed, he was the leader of the King's rival gang, the Woodhounds.

I'm brought back to reality when I notice Tommy chug back the last of his drink. Right now I need to help my drunk assistant, who thinks it's a big celebratory thing that I killed out rivals gang leader.

"let's go, Tommy!", I say while grabbing Tommy's wrists and trying to pull him off the bar counter.

"Let loo-oose Ana, we don't have to worry about Woodhound. I'll drink to that!", Tommy slurs while trying to grab another beer off the bartender.

I roll my eyes and smack Tommy's hand away from the now, refilled beer getting handed to him.

I stare coldly at the bartender. He notices my stare and silently moves away to another part of the bar while ignoring Tommy's pleas to stay.

"Get down Tommy!", I say forcefully through gritted teeth. Completely sick of this night already.

I look at my watch, 11:26 pm.

The night was barely started. But now I'm babysitting a 22-year-old. Great.

Annoyed at Tommy's actions, I grab his wrists and yank him off the counter. He lands on the floor, knocking people and chairs down on the way.

I spot Matt sitting down at the counter, talking to a blonde woman.

"Matt, Get this fat lump out of here!", I yell loud enough for him to hear. He notices me and I point at Tommy. He nods his head.

Completely sick of the bar, and the sweaty bodies breathing down each other's necks from the crowded place, I briskly walk to the exit. Opening the wooden doors, letting the cold night air fill my lungs, my mind is fuzzy.

I place my hands on my knees to compose myself from the spinning world around me.

"Ma'am, are you alright?" , David my driver asks me. While keeping his distance. He's probably scared I'll lash out at him for coming close to me.

"Get Tommy", I say out of breath, while pointing towards the door. David nods his head and stumbles inside quickly. He's scared of me. Of course, he would run towards the door, he hates being left alone with me. More than once I have yelled at him, for asking too many questions. But that's not my fault, he needs to mind his own business.

I trudge towards the car, every step I take echoes through my head. I still feel dizzy, although my breathing has cleared up.

Opening the black SUV'S door, I clamber into the passenger seat. City lights fill the streets. Cars zoom past, with the sounds of music coming fro the bars all around. Everything is fast, I can't keep track; my head is hurting.

I watch as a girl, crosses the street dodging a speeding taxi. She curses at the taxi driver, in return, the taxi driver beeps his horn. She flips him off and carries on walking.

Why is everything so dramatic in the city?

I'm interrupted from my thoughts as the back seat door springs open, and a very drunk Tommy dives in.

"Oh my god!! Hellooooo Ana!", Tommy shouts as he sits properly in the back seat. He pats my head. I roll my eyes, not bothering to answer.

David opens the driver's door and gets in to start the car. "Where to ma'am?", he asks me as he adjusts the rearview mirror to keep an eye on Tommy.

"Tommy's house", I state while looking forward, my eyes solely on the road in front. I can't bear to look at Tommy. I can't believe he would get drunk, he knows how I feel about drunk people.

Drunk assholes attacked my brother.

Rage flows through me, I clench my fists. My body stiffens as I hear Tommy humming to himself.

We drive in silence for 20 minutes out of the city. Well, not complete silence, Tommy thinks it's funny to sing as loud as he can for as long as he can.

I have my hands over my ears, trying to block out his annoying voice. It doesn't work very well though.

We eventually pull into Tommy's driveway.

Tommy lives on the outskirts of North Shore. His house is a nice, large, modern mansion. 2 stories, 4 bedrooms, which is a bit stupid considering only him and his maid live here.

I stay seated while David gets Tommy into his home. Millie, the maid greets them at the door. A look of worry and embarrassment etched onto her 50 yr old face. Millie has short white hair and has been around since I met Tommy. She's like a mother to him.

She looks over at me and I wave to her. Her sympathy sweet smile glows at me. She has a very contagious smile.

David takes Tommy inside, and Millie follows after him after waving goodbye to me.

I wait for 7 minutes until David opens the front door, and steps out shutting the door behind him.

He doesn't look at me as he glides around the front of the vehicle. Getting in and starting it up, we drive away silently.

"You know how I feel about drunk people ".I state, still looking in front. I see out the corners of my eyes as he turns quickly and glances at me, "-So you know how I feel." I say quickly hoping he hadn't heard me.

"It's ok Ana, I understand".

I smile inwardly thankful to David for understanding why I hate drunk people. I can't imagine putting myself in a position of vulnerability.

We drive for the next 10 minutes in silence, until we pull up to my house.

"Ana". David says with a nod of his head. As a goodbye.

I nod in reply and close the car door after stepping out.

Once I get inside my house, I hear David pull out of the driveway.

I breathe out a heavy sigh. I need to sleep. I have school tomorrow.
