FANTASIES OF LOVE AND POWER IN THE ORIENT

Summary

Despite French poetry's storied history of symphonic lyrics, modern French poetry is noted for its love of sharp clarity and laconic spaces. Morris Wu spent many years trying to assimilate French modernism to Anglo-Saxon and American tastes. The chief device of modernist poetry is to convey feeling and beauty in terms of an image or many converging images where the vortex of the images is a realistic every day object, common to all cultures in all times, like a 'sound', 'rock'> leaf', skin' all these which carry different narratives depending on location.

Reuben Brower, among groundbreaking forays Brower and ecstatic pinning of modern British and American modernistic poetry of Lawrence, Yeats, Joyce, Elie and Pound, Brower made it quite clear that Anglo-Saxon modernistic poetry was still only a spin off from its great progenitors in the canon of 19th-20th century.
