Prologue

Summary of Observation of Subject 452, Hannah Marie Solomon

Subject 452 was first observed by Soldier Evan Nova (137, dept. 1). When the subject's potential as a Department 9 operator was discovered, assistant director Drussy personally took on observation detail. Subject possesses superb intelligence, outperforming her peers at every opportunity. Subsequent IQ testing places the Subject in the top percentile of her age group.

Subject shows extremely promising signs of development in grace and beauty, and is in good health. On repeated occasions in field testing, subject has shown a proficiency in deduction and innovation, along with physical strength and agility of the highest caliber. Subject possesses great skill in projectile sports played by her age group, and is likely to show an early predilection to ranged weapons of all varieties.

Subject has no close friends.

Notes of Assistant Director Drussy

Apr. 3

Subject left her domicile as scheduled at 0732, and walked three miles to her school. Subject demonstrated speed and endurance above the norm for her peer group, averaging 8 miles per hour on the trip. Subject then spent the majority of the day at school, only exiting the building for Physical Education class, in which she easily outperformed most of her classmates, and Recreation, which she spent sitting on a bench alone, completely motionless. After school ended, subject walked home and resumed activities appropriate for her age group.

Apr. 29

In the space of two weeks, subject has crafted a bow of admirable quality, and has begun to teach herself to shoot. Subject shows a very clear inclination towards ranged weapons, and takes notable initiative.

May 23

Subject's prowess with ranged weapons continues to increase. Subject's interactions with people have decreased, with no visible psychological effects. Subject shows marked sociopathic tendencies.

In summary: Recommend Subject 492, Hannah Marie Solomon, to admission into Department 9 as soon as possible.

A dark-haired man put down the paper that he had been reading.

“Very promising,” he told the man before him. “Everything seems to be in order. Is her intelligence as high as you say?”

“Above anything we could have hoped for. The child is a certifiable genius.”

“Good. Arrange for her extraction.”

“Her parents?”

“-Are useless to us. End them.”

“Yessir.”

Nine sat back with a smirk and watched the guard go.

“Is she the one, sir?” asked a quiet voice in the back corner.

Nine smiled fondly. “Yes, Petrov,” he answered his newest creation. “She'll be perfect.”

Ku_Rolet: The novel was good, and I really enjoyed reading it. I love the leads and their bond, but I have one question that confused me. How could Tristan have been dreaming about his mate since he was a child if Omara was already mated to someone else before him? If Kyle had accepted Omara, would Tristan ne...
