Days of Greyscale
We begin our story with thrilling tale of a Heartless. Those of you who don’t know what heartless are. Allow me to enlighten you. They are the protectors of the common folks. Heartless are human who were born to hunt creatures of the night like vampires or goblins. What make them so special is they can with stand bites of monster without turning into one themselves and they are known to have a heart shape emblem birth mark that light up and give them a slight sting to alert them when one these creatures is about to attack. Well it wasn’t long until these people decided they work better together. So they form groups like the Knight Templar which was started under King Arthur himself which only the elite serving as Knights of the Round Table. And that were we find ourselves with this tale. As we focus on one the greats which is Sir Gyras of Baltia.
As he was off to the country side. As he heard some his men were having difficulty hunting down a legendary Basilisk which have dub as Greyscale. It may have well been the biggest seen around these parts. And he was going to check it out and see why so many things was going wrong. As he rode off to the country side. Making it in great time. Arriving in the land of the simple life. He was greeted by one of his men that live here.
“ Good day, Sir Gyras.”
G: Hello. So I been hearing about some problems you been having here?
“ Yes my lord, it appears we are having a hell of a time trying capture and slay this Basilisk. At this Point it just toying with us. The creature have slaughter several life stocks and murder two men. But it have been hard trying to track it. Each time we think it may show it quickly move to it next location or it strike much later after we have given up.”
G: So how long have you waited for this beast?
“ This last time we waited for nearly three days, but nothing. And then on the fourth day it finally came after we have already retreated back to the village.
G: Hmm...funny. It seem you have forgotten what I taught you when dealing with cunning creatures like this. You must have patience. For these creatures are smart enough to know that when you come. But I do not wish to dwell to much on a lesson. No I came here cause it been awhile sense I had a good hunt. And decided I come down here and hunt it down. Sense I don’t believe I have a Basilisk in my collection.
The men agreed and felt it was prove most educational that a real legend teach the new comers how it done. So sir Gyras lead a group of men out to the next location and was going teach them the great trick of being patience. As They arrive at the spot. Sir Gyras order to have the horses and carriages taken back to the village. The men look at him why? Sir Gyras replies that the only way you’ll be able to draw it close is being quiet. And the horses would have surely cause some noise. And then he order his men to spread out though out the land. So the serpent would think they separated. So as all the men were in place. Sir Gyras was alone with the surrounding men watching from afar. As Sir Gyras prepare everything. He put raw meat around him in a circle and a full bucket of goat blood all over himself. And he then took off his shirt. And sat with his legs cross as he close his eyes. And he started to meditate. He told his men to specifically stay away no matter how long it take.
On the first day nothing happen. The sun was hot as the men were over heated from the blazing sun. And with sweat dripping from their’s brows. With the only exception was Sir Gyras. As he still sat their in meditation not even a little effected by the heat. Which the men though was curious. Then the next day came as they got ban barded by a large storm. Everyone was drench with rain and many of the men fear that they would be struck by lightning. But the only one who wasn’t fearful was sir Gyras. As again he stood still as can be not even effected by the storming weather. The men again look curious and were thinking he was mad. Then after the harsh storm ran it course. The third day had come. With it being hotter then the first. And the aftermath of the rain didn’t help a bit. Only making it very humid and muggy. So the men walk over and apologize to Sir Gyras. For they could not handle it any longer. And so they retreated back to the village. But again Sir Gyras was not effected by the extreme heat. So the men left leaving only sir Gyras. As they head home.
And then finally the fourth day have come. The men had waited for sir Gyras thinking he was mad and would not return and most likely die out in the broad lands. But it wasn’t til mid-day. As they look to the horizon. And see Sir Gyras himself. He walk on his own while dragging what look like the head of the very same Basilisk they were trying to hunt. He walk back to the village dragging the beast head with rope he tied along it fangs. The whole village went running to Sir Gyras. As they approach him.
“ Sir Gyras. You did it! You killed the Basilisk! But how?”
G: Like I said in my teaching. Patience is a virtue and with it you can defeat your worst enemy.
As he threw the head to his men feet. But not before he took the skin off the top of it head as proof for King Amr and a fang for his own personal collection. His men bow to their’s lord. Knowing he the wisest and the bravest of them all.
G: Thanks men. But I’m afraid it time for me to head back to Camelot to deliver this fine gift to our king.
His men cheers as he head back on his horse and rode off most likely to his castle before heading back to Camelot to King Amr. Thus ending a wondrous tale of another legendary Knight of the Round Table. Learning it doesn’t take rolling forces to defeat your enemy, but only patience to be the last one standing and claiming the final blow. In which leaving another tale of the old. But only for a moment as there is plenty of stories in far off land. And so when you need an escape. Don’t hesitate to come find a story and leave the harsh reality behind....
