12th of August 1969

A day like any other day.

A day in which I’m going to meet my best friends.

A summer day, in which the sun burns hotter than an oven, and the birds sing more than me in the shower.

Another day in which I realize that you must first love yourself before you can love another.

That’s why all my relationships have failed miserably.

“ー Did you say big Latte?”

Is she fucking deaf?

“ー Yes. With the name Lux.” I repeat myself with a neutral face while I hand the money to the lady working at Star Coffee.

I’m out for 5 minutes until I get my order, enjoying my cigarette with chocolate and blueberries.

I’m glad it’s worth it, I gave like 5 dollars on a single one.

When I go back to Star Coffee and see the name written on the coffee, I almost die of nerves.

“ー Wow, you guys can not even write a name properly. Good thing I will not end up like you. See you. Or not. Because next time I will go to another coffee store.” I say as I smile and decide to go to the nearby park.

I sit down on a bench and drink out of the coffee, humming a song I heard on the radio a few days ago.

Cox.

They wrote Cox on my Latte.

Fucking Star Coffee.

But it could have been worse.

That lady could put me in place of Cox, Cuc, or Mox, or Muc, or whatever passing through her mind.

Thinking like this, I’m pretty okay with Cox, though if anyone sees that I should justify that I am not using drugs and that it was just a mistake from Star Coffee.

I write to my friends the place where I am, and the 3 of them answer that they will arrive as soon as they can.

In 3-4 weeks we start the university, and we do not have an apartment.

We have been looking since early summer, but we have not found anything yet to our liking. We must hurry.

I see Ameena, Evolette and Misa approaching me, so I’m trying to relax.

I trust them. I trust we will soon find a place to live together.

I trust the luck that does not really leave me.

“ー How are you girls doing?” I ask them, and Ameena picks me up me from the bench and hugs me tight.

“ー I missed you, fried brain, why didn’t you come yesterday with us to hookah?”

“ー Period. Day 1. I did not want to tell you on the phone, who knows who was near you.” I explain admiring Misa’s earrings.

“ー That sucks. Mine comes tomorrow.” Misa complains, and I make a sad face for her sake.

“ー Misa, Ameena, Lux, if we keep talking about periods, we’ll miss the meeting with that girl who sells us the apartment.” Evolette tells us, and I nod.

She is right, in an hour we have to be there.

We go all the way to the nearest taxi and before I go in, I notice a notebook with a sign saying ‘whoever you are, do not read’ so I quickly pick it up and put it in my bag, planning to read it later.

“ー We are all going to be in the same college! I CAN NOT WAIT. I CAN NOT WAIT.” Misa says having a happy face, while high fiving with Ameena.

“ーAnd I was just waiting to get rid of you.” I sarcastically say, waiting for Misa’s reaction.

“ー Nooo, you kidding right?”

Everyone has that one sensible friend.

“ー Of course, you sensible pineapple head!” I smile and kiss her cheek.

“ー Theater in middle school, theater in high school, clearly the university of acting was written on our foreheads!” Exclaims Ameena, and she is right.

“ー I’m glad we did all this together.” I admit ecstatic.

It will be awesome! All 4 in an apartment! Alone !!!

Dream of any group of friends.

While my friends are reading magazines or listening to music, I open the notebook found earlier and try to read a little bit of it.

“But they were not humans.

They were creatures.

Monsters.”

What the? What is it about?

“ーWhat’s that?” Ameena asks me, and I panic.

″ー A notebook. Not important.” I answer and put it back in my bag, planning to read it later.

I will definitely tell the girls, but not now.

Although it does not seem to be, this taxi driver is a bit eavesdropping. A bit more.

Soon he leaves us at the destination, and we adjust our breathing before we enter.

It’s our last chance to find an apartment on time.

“ー It has laundry rope, that’s some serious luxury!” Says Evolette after analyzing the wires below the windows.

“ー Did you say something about me?” I raise an eyebrow and the girls start to laugh.

“ー That was good. Now let’s go.” Misa guides us, and we go into the block of flats.

“ー I’m not going to climb 3 floors, come with the elevator.” Ameena says when she sees the stairs.

“ー You mean with the lift!”

“ー Only you use this expression. I do not think anyone else will ever use it except you.”

“ー Elevator is a thing of the past, now it’s a lift! I’m in line with trends.” Misa smiles full of herself, and I hasten to that fucking elevator or lift.

Maybe this will stop with contradictions. The elevator has a large round mirror blown on the edges with gold, and over the buttons that signify the floors there is a kind of an electric square covered with glass.

“ー The women with the apartment said it’s on the 3rd floor, so to the 3rd floor!” Evolette informs me, and I click on 3.

Noticing that nothing is happening, I press on 3 again.

To my absolute confusion, once again the elevator does not move.

“ー Press again, if it does not work, on the stairs with us.” Advises Misa and I approve.

When I press again on 3, the number “333” appears on the electric screen, and the elevator seems to wake up.

“ー What the actualー” I’m starting to say, but Ameena cuts me off.

“ー Will take us to 3, ignore the screen. It’s definitely flawed.”

“ー I just gave the women a message. The women with the apartament.” Says Evolette with a neutral voice, staring at the electric screen.

“ー What is it?” I approach her, and she drops down, dropping her phone.

“ー Impossible.” Misa murmurs after she takes Evolette’s phone.

“ー What??? What is going on?”

“ー Until now we should have gotten to the third floor already.” Reminds Ameena as she plucks the phone from Misa’s hands when she begins to cry.

Ameena hands me the phone with a strange look after a few seconds.

Evolette: We are in the elevator. Almost there.

Lady with the apartament: What? We do not have an elevator.

I have no idea what to believe right now.

What is actually happening?

“ー Calm down, we’ll be fine. We’re going to call ー” A strange noise interrupts my words, and the elevator begins to emit a suspect purple smoke.

“ー GIRLS, ARE YOU OK?” I shook their bodies, but in vain.

My best friends just fainted.

I hold Misa’s handkerchief to my mouth while I’m searching for my phone.

Before I find the phone, my fingers brush the notebook I found today.

What if? No, we are not in a movie, that can’t...

BUT WHAT IF SOMEHOW MIRACULOUSLY it is cursed!

I open the notebook with one hand and try to read a few words.

If this messed everything up, It has to be a way to fix it written in here.

“care”

“unfortunately”

“I was forced”

“Torture”

“Wanted my blood”

“Bite”

“I found how to escapeー”

And suddenly, all the words in the notebook begin to disappear, and at the end, the notebook itself evaporates.

But I do not have time to think about it now.

The phone, look for the phone Lux!

I quickly take it out of my purse, but again for the milionth time today I remain shooked.

I do not have a signal anymore.

The block of flats has 4 floors, and the elevator indicates that we have reached 22.

It’s impossible.

Was the noise produced when we ... came out of the block?

Is that why I do not have a signal?

I have to do something, but I can not hold my breath anymore.

I breathe as fast as I can after I take off the handkerchief from my mouth, but I regret it instantly after I feel my head falling on the cold surface of the elevator.

“ー Lux, are you all right?”

“ー Lux?”

I slowly open my eyes and realize that everything that has happened so far has not been a nightmare.

“ー Girls ー ???”

“ー Yes, it’s real, I know, I know it’s absurd, but nothing bad will happen to us.″ Ameena calms me patting my head.

“ー We woke up 10 minutes ago and we thought about this. I think the taxi driver killed us. We are dead!″ Misa smiles in a non-convincing way, and I feel like going crazy.

So I’m dying? Yeah, that’s for sure.

“ー We are at 329. Four more floors down to Jesus. I’m glad we do that together.” Evolette lifts her palm towards me, and I hesitate at first, but then we high five.

“ー I’m glad I did not die alone like a sad motherfucker, if I died.” I say trying to accommodate my mind with the thought of death.

“ー I’m glad it was painless.” Misa remarks, and she’s right.

0% pain.

People who read my thoughts, do not be afraid of death anymore.

“ー What If I get to hell?” Ameena panicks.

“ー We will come to visit you.” Evolette replies, but I shake my head.

“ー Do you know our jokes about what we’re going to do in the future? Well, if you were a beggar on a street, I was a beggar on the next street. If your house was a pillar, my house was the next pillar. If you end up in a cell in hell, I’ll be in the next one, baby. ” I say as I embrace Ameena, and she smiles at me.

But the sound of the elevator makes us wake up from our little emotional moment.

We get out shy from the elevator, and there are many paintings, wax figures and sculptures in front of us.

It looks like we’re in a building without a height limit because I can not see the ceiling.

“ー And where is God?”

“ー Shut up and go on.” A frightened Misa scolds me.

We walk almost an eternity, finding suspicious rooms, until we see a really huge door in front of us.

The door opens automatically after touching it, and we all freeze in place.

Besides the fact that this room has a wow decoration, with chandeliers, emerald carpets and many other things I can not describe at this time, there are 7 boys in the middle, each of them having an incredible beauty.

“ー Well, heaven is cool.” Ameena says, devouring one of the boys.

“ー We should have died faster.”

“ー I think they are the God’s angels who judge us or something.” I’m also saying, swallowing hard.

“ー Hahahahah. I have been waiting for this moment.” I hear a nice laugh and I look at the one who produced the sound.

“ー Yes, we are angels. Now we will choose a girl to judge ...” Says a boy with pink hair, making the first part sound more sarcastic, and the second ... more sexual.

I do not know why I have this impression, he certainly did not refer to that.

“ー They are 4, we 7, we will choose later. Jin, take care of them, the rest of us will go to the human’s world a little. If the elevator came, we should take advantage.“Grins a guy with red hair and I look at him shocked.

Angels have fangs? Because when he grinned, I can swear I saw two big and sharp fangs.

And what is up with ‘we are going into the world of people?’ Is it an angel’s ability?

I look at him insistently, wanting to have a good explanation.

“ー Blondie is mine, I like the look on her face.” Adds the red haired, and I think he is taking about me.

“ー Ahh, and I smell blood. She is definitely mine.” He continues, and my eyes open so much that I have the impression that once I relax, they will fall because of the stretched muscle.

The only place where I bleed ... is ... but ... how ...

Fuck the day like any other day.
