Summary

Tears were no longer clear, but black. Her canines were longer than the average Human, and her claws sharper the average Cascade. "If it's a blood bath they want, then a blood bath they'll get." The Cascades are powerful demons, born of the original flame of Hell. They are very cruel if they don't take a liking to you, but aren't as bad as they sound if you are with them. There are only two ways to be with them: being one of them, or mated to one of them. Adevine Yales is an outcast; too weak to be considered an enemy. Born of a Cascade and human, people of the kingdom treat her with less then respect. Although her parents are unaware of what happens outside of their household. She knows something that everyone else doesn't, she knows who the Cascade Prince is. But that's not the big thing, what happens when the weakest of them all, rises with more power than the King himself? Nobody likes a challenge.

Prologue

Prologue

I don’t see the point in going to school with the enemy if all they are going to do is fight with each other. Though who am I to talk? At least they have people to back them up when they are in a fight, where as I have no one. I am considered an outcast to both sides, not an enemy, but an outcast. An enemy is someone who can do harm to another, I, however, can do no harm. I am just a fragile little halfie compared to that of a full Cascade; conceived of a human mother and a demonic father. My father is one of the highest of demons. He is higher than the King of Vampires, but not higher than the King of Cascades.

Vampires are simply humans that feed off of other human blood. They are stronger than normal humans, but compare to a full Cascade they are simply a dog who barks but doesn't have a bite. The Cascades are powerful demons, born of the original flame of Hell. My father was a high commander for the King of Cascades, King Lactire’s, army, but recently retired, only to be called for if a war is to come that is too great for his old army to handle. The King, being very fond of my father, let him retire, which is very rare, because of one reason. He found his soul-mate, my mother Victoria. Not many Cascades find their soul-mates and when they do a big celebration is held for them congratulations for being blessed from below. The people of the Cascades slowly accepted my parents’ bond, after testing it time after time, always saying that their bond was bewitched by the Humans’ Royalty.

The Humans’ Royalty were humans with unique powers, they used to be rare, but they are growing more rapidly now. Therefore if you have powers you are only a Royalty if you are a direct descendant of the Original Royalties or married to one. My mother was not a Royalty, making the Cascades even more wary on wether to believe in my parents’ bond or not. But they did accept it eventually, but never me. They greeted my parents like normal people of the civilization, never me. They loved my parents but not what they created.

Therefore, whenever I was seen, people immediately went away, going in the opposite direction. Disgusted that I exist, people at the school would beat me, laugh about it, and went on with their days. My parents knew nothing of what I went through day by day, I would heal within the hour. Everyone beat me except for a boy and his followers.

He had short black hair; it would be a sin if you were to even begin to compare his hair with feathers. His dark blue eyes were from the purest drops of water from the ocean. His lips were always stained from the pinkest of roses, and a face carved from the gods. His body showed dominance, superiority,...Royalty.

I don’t think other people knew that he was indeed the Prince of Cascades. They knew he, the Royal Prince, was at the school, but not what he looked like. Princes never let people know who they are until the day to be revealed is to come. The King announced of his son attending Hell High-School. Saying that he would be revealed on March 1st. He came along as the ‘hot new guy’, though not just him, with other ‘hot guys’ as well. If the people of the school, especially humans, were to observe him, they could see that he is the mysterious Prince. It was the way he held himself, how he demanded attention. The way his followers, the ‘hot guys’, became defensive when Humans and Cascades were disrespectful.

I never understood why he never touched me, never hurt me. Walking through the hallways, I would get stopped, and beaten as usual, and there he would be leaning against the lockers. The mysterious Prince. But he would just walk away from what he saw, taking rigid steps as he went, his followers pursuing him. But what to expect? He was there to announce his upcoming presence, not help a pathetic halfie. But when in class, I felt his powerful gaze, as if he was debating on what to do with me, but never lay a finger on my body. It scared me. He, Prince Lactire II, scared me, Adevine Yales more than anyone in the school, has ever had.

The Grumpy Next Door

MtnsOfTroy: If you're looking for a feel good, steamy romance novel this will definitely do the job. It doesn't have a whole lot of plot twists, but it's believable enough to make it exciting. My only main critique is that there's not enough conflict, but there are plenty of steamy encounters and a happy ending...

Lise: Très bon moment de lecture. Ce qui est dommage c'est que leur histoire est trop rapide, l'attirance oui mais l'amour en 4 jours non. Mais je passe un bon moment de lecture. Ce livre est plaisant.
