Chapter 1
Taehyung’s POV
“And without further ado, welcome to Seoul University!” The Dean of the university said ending his rather long speech and eliciting a round of applause from the audience. Taehyung yawned regretting having come to watch the opening ceremony. It wasn’t like he needed to as he wasn’t a freshman nor a transfer student. It was actually his second year at Seoul University. So really, he had no business being there except that he’d been asked to come by his hyung. However, he was beginning to think he should have just told Yoongi that he would meet Yoongi’s friends another day.
Taehyung yawned again as he pulled out his phone and texted the elder asking where he was. He hadn’t spotted the elder anywhere but that shouldn’t come as a surprise as the elder was short. Ok well not that short, but Taehyung was taller so that meant Yoongi was short, end of story. His phone pinged and he looked at the message to see Yoongi had given him a location to meet him at. Pocketing his phone, he began navigating through the crowd heading to the spot Yoongi had indicated.
On his way there he heard his phone ping again and so he pulled it out to check the new message. However, as soon as he began reading the message he crashed into someone and his phone went flying as he and the person he’d crashed into went tumbling to the ground. It happened so fast Taehyung didn’t have time to realize what had happened until he found himself face to face with a cute male with large green eyes which were widened indicating his surprise. Taehyung’s face mirrored the expression of surprise as he stared at the cute boy beneath him. The boy had a sculpted face with cute slightly chubby cheeks, long eyelashes, full pink lips, and flaming red hair. The surprised expression that the boy was wearing turned into a grimace of pain.
“Ouch,” the male mumbled bringing Taehyung to his senses. Taehyung quickly pulled himself up and off the other realizing the other had taken the brunt of the fall and Taehyung had landed on top of him which had probably amplified the pain the other was feeling. He reached out and helped the other up apologizing profusely.
“I’m so so sorry, I didn’t notice you there. Are you hurt? Wait don’t answer that, of course, you are, you hit the cement! Where are you hurt? Can you walk? Should I take you to see the nurse?” Taehyung asked worriedly as he saw the other shakily get to his feet. The red-haired male shook his head as he steadied himself.
“No, um it’s ok... It wasn’t your fault anyway, I should have paid attention to where I was walking,” the male replied looking at Taehyung curiously. “You’re not hurt right?”
Taehyung began shaking his head and then caught a glimpse of his phone which lay on the ground, the screen shattered. He sighed as he picked it up, “I’m not hurt but looks like the same can’t be said for my phone.”
“I’m sorry,” the other said looking at the phone with a slightly confused expression.
“Nah, it isn’t your fault. Really,” Taehyung insisted when the other looked like he was about to protest. The redhead frowned but didn’t say anything.
“Anyway, I need to get going, sorry again!” Taehyung said and then took off. He knew Yoongi didn’t like to be kept waiting and so he didn’t want to delay too long.
After a couple minutes of walking, he spotted Yoongi by the benches exactly where the elder had texted he’d be. Beside him sat a tall sandy blonde haired male who was looking around worriedly. Yoongi in comparison seemed calm but Taehyung had known him for a year now and he knew that the way the elder’s eyes were sweeping the crowd meant he was anything but calm.
Taehyung hurried over to them yelling out a greeting to Yoongi to get the elder’s attention, “Hi hyung!”
Yoongi looked towards him and gave him a blank expression before motioning for him to hurry up. Once Taehyung was in front of the elder Yoongi stood up, his companion doing the same. Taehyung observed the male beside Yoongi noting just how tall he was. He was much taller than Taehyung, had a nice face, startling blue eyes, and his sandy blonde hair was styled nicely. However, Taehyung wondered why the tall male looked so worried.
“Hey, Taehyung have you seen a kid about my height with red hair and green eyes around?” Yoongi asked Taehyung.
“He’s wearing a pink sweater and black jeans.” The tall guy added biting his lip and looking at Taehyung hopefully.
“Red hair....” Taehyung paused to think a moment and then remembered the person he’d bumped into, “..Oh, yea! I crashed into him on my way here!” Taehyung answered.
“Where was that?!” The tall guy asked grabbing a hold of Taehyung’s shoulders and looking at him intensely.
“Over there,” Taehyung answered pointing behind him in the general direction he’d come from. He squirmed a little in the taller male’s grasp as he felt slightly uncomfortable with the other touching him and looking at him so intensely. The tall male immediately released him and was about to run off in the direction Taehyung had pointed when Yoongi grabbed his arm and pulled him back, effectively stopping the light brown haired male from running off.
“Wait, Namjoon! You’ll just get lost if you run off by yourself!” Yoongi exclaimed looking irritated.
“But Jimin’s lost!” The tall male, Namjoon, Taehyung presumed yelled back.
“I’m aware of that!” Yoongi retaliated.
“Hyung, I don’t think you get it, Jimin can’t be on his own right now!” Namjoon gritted out.
“I said we’d find him,” Yoongi replied crossing his arms over his chest.
“With all due respect, you’ve made me sit here while you waited for your friend to show up and now you’re arguing with me instead of looking for him! If you’d just let me use ma-” Namjoon was cut off as Yoongi kicked his shin, making the taller let out a cry of pain and crouch down to sooth his shin while glaring up at Yoongi.
“Remember where you are, idiot. I’ve been here a year already so mind you I know what I’m doing,” Yoongi scolded quietly and Namjoon frowned.
“Um... who’s Jimin?” Taehyung asked interrupting the two and earning their attention.
“He’s my younger brother,” Namjoon replied, standing back up.
Taehyung squinted at Namjoon trying to find the resemblance but he just wasn’t seeing any. “Is he adopted or something?” Taehyung asked.
“He’s my stepbrother,” Namjoon growled out looking more than a little irritated, as if Taehyung had stepped on his toes. “Now if you two don’t mind, I really need to find him,” Namjoon continued, turning to glare at Yoongi in a challenging sort of way.
Yoongi rolled his eyes but nodded before turning to Taehyung. “Mind leading the way to where you last saw him?” Yoongi asked and Taehyung nodded, promptly leading the way. When they reached the spot where Taehyung had encountered the redhead, they began looking around for the boy. Thankfully there weren’t as many people as there had been earlier, so it wouldn’t be as difficult to find the red haired male.
“Hyung!” A high pitched voice yelled all of a sudden. Taehyung looked in the direction of where he’d heard the voice and saw the redhead running towards them.
“Jimin!” Namjoon yelled back and then ran towards his younger brother. Jimin crashed into Namjoon and wrapped his arms around his brother while burying his face into the taller’s chest.
“Well that’s not something you see every day,” Taehyung commented as Yoongi chuckled.
“Jimin and Namjoon are really close to each other. Jimin tends to be the curious sort so he’s often getting himself into all sorts of trouble and Namjoon is the stereotypical overprotective brother. Namjoon would literally do anything to make sure Jimin’s ok and so he always worries anytime he doesn’t know where Jimin is,” Yoongi said and Taehyung nodded trying to understand the two sibling’s dynamics. The two of them walked over to the siblings who had just released each other.
“You shouldn’t run off like that Jimin! We’re new here so we can’t just go off on our own yet, you’re supposed to stay next to me and Yoongi at all times. How did you even get separated from us?” Namjoon asked as he scolded the younger for getting lost.
“I don’t know. One moment you were there and the next you were gone,” Jimin replied pouting.
“Don’t give me that pouty face. I’m sure you got distracted by something,” Namjoon responded, lightly flicking Jimin’s forehead causing the younger too pout even more. Jimin’s eyes shifted away from Namjoon towards Taehyung and Yoongi as they approached and then lit up in recognition.
“Oh, it’s you! The one I bumped into,” Jimin said to Taehyung as a surprised expression overtook his previous pout.
Taehyung smiled at the others surprised expression before saying, “you didn’t bump into me though, I crashed into you. By the way, are you sure you’re not hurt?”
Jimin shook his head while returning the smile and Taehyung thought the other’s smile was really nice.
“If you’re not hurt why are you bleeding from your elbow?” Yoongi asked pointing towards a dark red stain on Jimin’s pink sweater. Namjoon took a hold of Jimin’s arm and pulled up the sleeve. Taehyung expected to see a cut or scrape there but surprisingly the skin was intact, no sign of injury anywhere.
“Oh yea I was bleeding for a bit but I healed myself,” Jimin responded.
“Healed yourself?” Taehyung questioned raising an eyebrow.
“Hmm hmm,” Jimin replied nodding his head. Taehyung looked at the redhead in confusion not understanding what the green eyed male meant.
“Ah, what he means is it wasn’t really a big cut so we can barely see it, and the bleeding stopped quickly,” Yoongi supplied quickly once he noticed Taehyung’s confused expression.
Jimin looked at Yoongi for a moment before agreeing, “Oh... yea, that’s what I meant.”
“Anyway, now that we found Jimin, let me introduce you all to each other. This is Taehyung, he’s in the same year as Jimin and is a graphic design major but is also minoring in game design. Taehyung, this is Jimin, he’s a transfer student and is going to major in art. And this is Namjoon, he’s also a transfer student. But he’s a third year and is majoring in philosophy,” Yoongi said as a way of introduction.
“It’s nice to meet you guys,” Taehyung said holding out his hand towards Jimin. Jimin hesitates a moment before taking a hold of Taehyung’s hand and shaking it.
“It’s nice to meet you to,” Jimin replies with a bright smile and his eyes turning into crescent moons which has Taehyung’s heart skip a beat at the sheer adorableness of it all. After shaking Jimin’s hand, Taehyung shakes Namjoon’s hand as well.
“Yoongi hyung, when are we going to see where our classes are?” Namjoon asked as Taehyung releases his hand.
“Now. But we’re not going together. I called Taehyung here so he could help Jimin while I help you.” Yoongi said. Taehyung regarded the elder for a second before nodding. He didn’t mind showing Jimin around but.
“Wait are you sure that’s a good idea?” Namjoon asked looking panicked.
“Yes, I’m sure,” Yoongi replied blatantly.
“But-” Namjoon began but Yoongi cut him off with a glare.
“Jimin show Taehyung your schedule and he’ll show you around,” Yoongi instructed and Jimin reached into his pocket to do as he was told. He handed his schedule to Taehyung who looked at it and smiled before grabbing a hold of Jimin’s hand and saying, “Come on, we’ll start with the Arts building.”
“Wait!” Namjoon said as he grabbed a hold of Jimin’s other arm, he leaned in and whispered something to Jimin who nodded.
“I promise hyung,” Jimin replied smiling. Namjoon sighed but then smiled and Taehyung noticed the dimples the elder had, they made Namjoon look innocent and cute.
“Have fun Jimin, please take care of him Taehyung-ah.” Namjoon requested.
“I will,” Taehyung responded and then he pulled Jimin along with him to show him the campus.
