Chapter One - A New Start

When driving out of Orlando, Florida, thirteen year old Marina Skye looked outside her window, no longer seeing the palm trees as her Father drives on the highway. With her car window open, her fist is on her cheek, her light blue eyes that sparkled in the sunlight, the wind picked up, her brown hair blew in the wind, she turned around and picked up a seashell that she found of the beach.

She started to tear up, Marina has never moved before, she had so many friends, and didn't want to leave them either, she was scared to move to Williamsburg, Virginia, and to start a new school. She looked in front of her as her Mother looked back, hold her hand, and smiled.

"Don't worry, Marina, everything will be fine," Her Mother told her.

Marina saw the memories of being in Orlando, the beach, eating dinner at different places every day, it felt like a vacation that never ended, and it felt like a place where she was safe, and where everybody excepted her for who she was.

She frowned, "Mother? What is Virginia like?" Marina was curious about what she was going to see, and what she would already hate about it.

"I was raised in Williamsburg," Her mother speaking softly, "it is beautiful, during the Summer, my brothers and I use to go to the beach, I never had many friends growing up, but I usually hanged out with my brother's girlfriends and their younger siblings, you'll meet friends, I just know it,"

Hours later, Marina and her family arrived at their new house, Marina remember living on the beach, but as she jumped out of the car with her little blue dress, her blue bow in the back of her brown, soft hair, and her little black high heels, she frowned.

She looked up, and saw a giant mansion, mansions in Viginia weren't so.. rare, this was Marina's Mother's home, the Rochelle estate. Marina wasn't use to having a stepfather, after her real Father died in Iraq, she never thought that her Mother would get married and find another man.

When finding another man, Marina got jealous, before her Mother met Keaton, Marina's stepfather, they had a close relationship. Keaton married Marina's Mother when Marina turned 13 years old, Marina liked him, but she thought that she would never call him "Father".

Marina opens the front door as it swung back with a tiny creek. Inside, was two staircases on each side, and a hallway in the middle, where there was a beautiful living room, with flower pots, made in Italy, and a deck where you could see the beach - two gardens on each sides. When hopping up the stairs, Marina had a room chosen for her, it was big. She started unpacking all of her things as her Mother was super excited to be in her old home again.

"Marina," Keaton called her over, he bent down to her level, "Look, I understand that it is hard for you to have a stepdad, and it's hard to lose a Father, I lost my Mother after I turned five, I know how it feels, so if you need to talk about anything, just ask me, I just want you to be happy, your Mother and I love you very much, she just wants us to be a family."

"Okay, Mr. Rochelle," Marina hugged him and ran back to unpacking her things.
