Prologue

The Demigod

Gaia was mesmerized with her daughter’s beauty that she just couldn’t look away, she tried to drink in every detail about the small bundle of joy. This would be the only way she could remember the innocent baby in her arms. She didn’t know that her life was going to change, she had no clue yet, her eyes were almost speaking to Gaia. They were telling her it was okay, they were telling her that she would never hate her mother for this, it was for the best and one day they would be reunited. I must be dreaming. Gaia thought to herself as she kept on gazing lovingly at her daughter.

“Dea. That shall be your name little one, a name fit for a girl like you.” Gaia whispered while caressing her daughter’s small face. Dea gurgled at this and took a hold of her mother’s finger. Gaia looked at her in amazement then realized she had to let this amazing creature go, she didn’t know what to call her. She was such a beautiful baby it was no wonder she would be a beautiful woman. No one will ever think she’s human. Gaia didn’t even think she was a goddess, she was much more beautiful than that. With one last look at the giggling baby, she took off to the family that was going to be taking care of Dea. They were informed about what Dea was and who her mother was. They also knew what Dea’s destiny was which meant they had to make sure nothing happened to her. Gaia chose two warlocks to take care of her daughter, knowing their powerful spells would be able to protect her as well as hide her from the other Gods who wanted the battle take place.

Once Gaia arrived at the warlocks’ home, she hugged her baby close to her chest and created a warm blanket for her. She added her name in Greek on the blanket making it look like a decoration.

“So that a small piece of me will always be with you.” Gaia whispered and kissed her forehead. “You must always remember, no one can know that Dea is not human, her destiny could be ruined if the wrong people heard of this.” Gaia stated fiercely, handing her daughter to who she knew she could trust.

“We understand, she will be taken care of. Do not worry Goddess Gaia.” The woman promised Gaia with a nod of her head. Taking one last look at Dea, Gaia flew away back home before anyone could realise she was gone. The plan couldn’t be ruined now. She had hidden her pregnancy and the fact that she gave birth to Dea from the other Gods, she couldn’t ruin it now by someone trying to come look for her.

That night while everyone was asleep, the moon goddess had visited Dea. She gave her a gift she knew she would treasure for the rest of her life. “My son’s mate. I can already tell my son will fall in love with you as soon as he’ll see you. I am already in love with you.” The goddess mused and gazed adoringly at the sleeping baby.

The wolf - 1 year earlier

Artemis was so proud when her son was finally born, the name had been planned since she had found out she was pregnant and Alexander was finally in her arms. “Hi baby, hi.” She cooed at him, getting lost in his big blue eyes. He was a gorgeous baby, then again, most werewolves were but he was part werewolf, part god. This had made him more gorgeous than most out there. His father was the king of werewolves, of course no one knew that Artemis had mistakenly fallen for him and went to earth, that’s how Alexander had come to the world, the moon goddess had fallen in love with one of her own creations and the most important thing to her had finally arrived. Even though Artemis was ecstatic her son was with her, she knew he had to go. He was not safe with the gods, they wouldn’t understand and they also knew of the prophecy which was going to happen.

From the moment Alexander was placed in her arms, Artemis knew he was one of the chosen ones. She had to give him up, she was happy that he still had one parent to take care of him since Artemis was putting her trust in her loved one, that way no one would ever doubt he was her son. They would just think he was a werewolf, yes, he would be a werewolf prince but the prophecy had said he had to be a Demigod and she wouldn’t let anyone find out he was one. She was prepared to risk everything for her bundle of joy, he was just too important to her and to the world. She also knew five more would join him on this journey and one of those would be her son’s mate, that was one thing Artemis was looking forward to. It had been easier for her to give him up since she knew she would often see him as well as him being with his dad.

What hurt her was that he would not know his mother until the prophecy was fulfilled which meant he had to be lied to about his mother. Her heart broke at this but she had no choice.

The Valkyrie

Celina always knew she was different from the rest of her family, if you could even call it that. At the age of 2, she was just beginning to understand what the world she lived in was about, she didn’t learn words such as princesses, fun, love, happiness. No, she had to learn about fighting, about not trusting anyone but herself and that had been the start of the destruction of her childhood. She knew that her ‘family’ only wanted to turn her into a warrior, she would not have a childhood and the worst thing was that she knew about this at such an early age.

One night, she saw something enter her room through the small creak of her window. She hadn’t been sure on what she was supposed to do but be scared, she was still a child after all. The first thing that came to her mind was to hide but there was nowhere close enough for the shadows not to reach her so she stood frozen on her small bed watching carefully what was about to happen. Her eyes never left the moving light that seemed to be pacing her room, she wanted to be scared and scream but something inside of her didn’t let her. It told her that it was alright, that she was safe. An hour passed of her watching the pacing light in her room and Celina was starting to become sleepy. She promised herself that she wouldn’t fall asleep, too curious about what would happen but the sleep won over and soon enough, Celina’s head hit her pillow softly. The dim light stopped by the bed and waited until her breath evened out. 4 gods had appeared by the bed and watched her in silence.

“We must be quick, no one can ever know we were here.” One of the goddesses whispered as she focused her energy back on the sleeping child. One by one, they all bestowed their chosen gifts on the child and left quietly, knowing someone would soon check on her and find them there. Celina slightly opened her eyes, seeing the light once more but this time leaving her room. She smiled slightly at it but sleep consumed her once more and she had thought of it as a pointless dream.

The Shapeshifter

Ace was in bed right now but the feeling in his stomach would not leave. He thought something bad might happen but then again, he was a growing boy and he probably needed more food. He hadn’t really touched his food at dinner time so now his stomach was telling him to go get food. As he skipped down the stairs, Ace could smell something horrible in the air but couldn’t tell what it was. As he got closer to the bottom of the stairs, the smell got stronger and stronger. Maybe mommy burnt the cookies again because daddy was distracting her, this always happens. Ace told himself as a giggle escaped his lips.

“Silly mommy and daddy.” Ace mused out loud. When he entered the living room, he noticed most of his family (Ace considered them all family and not pack members, they all made sure that Ace always felt safe and comfortable with everyone. That to Ace meant family) were lying on the floor and couches, the smell from before stronger than before.

“Hey! Is anyone up?” Ace exclaimed with a smile, thinking they were all playing a game. When no one answered, Ace went towards the kitchen where he knew his mommy and daddy would be, they were always in the kitchen making sure everyone had everything they needed. “Mommy, everyone is asleep and I’m hungry, I know I should be asleep but my tummy won’t let me.” Ace said without looking up. When he didn’t receive an answer, he thought his mommy was mad at him so he slowly rose his eyes from the floor.

“Mommy?” Ace whispered as the smell from before was stronger in the kitchen as well as fresh. The sight of his mother and father lying on the floor made Ace race over to where they were trying to wake them up. What happened? Did they fall asleep as well? Ace thought to himself as he shook his mother’s arm. He looked around the kitchen once more and just realised that the whole room was covered in red. Millions of thoughts ran through his head, he couldn’t understand what had really happened here or why his parents weren’t waking up.

“Sweetie? Is that you baby?” As soon as Ace heard his mother’s voice, his focus went back on her.

“What happened? Why did you fall asleep in the kitchen?” Ace asked, his head slightly tilting, if his mother wasn’t in so much pain, she might have cooed at his cute ways. “Me and everyone else are really tired baby, but you’re fine. That’s all that matters, I need you to do something for me. Can you do that?” His mother asked, barely speaking without being in a great deal of pain.

“Of course! What do you wish for me to do mommy?” The young boy asked excitedly, oblivious to what was really happening around him. “I need you to run far away from here, can you do that?” His mother coughed, the pain too much for her to handle, she knew she was slipping away but she had to make sure her baby would be safe. “Mommy and daddy need to sleep, we cannot come with you.” The excitement Ace once felt died with the words that left this mother’s mouth, he had to leave without them? He couldn’t do that, he had never left their side and he was too young to travel by himself! “I can’t mommy, I want to stay with you and daddy.” The boy stated fiercely and looked into his mother’s eyes but it was too late, his mother had passed away as had his pack. He was all alone yet he did not realise it yet. He looked at his mother and father knowing they trusted him, he had to make them proud.

“I won’t let you down. I promise.” With this, the small oblivious boy left on a journey he did not know he started or if he would be able to survive.

The Nymph

When Abungu gave birth to her sweet baby daughter, the truth was undeniable. She was one of the chosen and there was nothing Abungu could do about it. That night, after Alena’s birth, two goddesses visited, giving her gifts to the sweet innocent baby girl that only gurgled at them. What else could they expect after all, she was only a baby. “Is Akoni here?” One of the goddesses asked Abungu which only tensed at their question. That child, she had never wanted to take him in but she knew the risks. She had no choice.

“Yes, he should be around. I’ll get one of the guards to grab him.” She answered stiffly but still with the same respect you could give a God. The goddesses smiled in return and waited along with the other goddess to bless Akoni with their gifts. In the meantime, the two goddesses whispered quietly to each other.

There was only one problem with having two of the chosen ones in the same place, the danger was twice as high as well as the fact that the nymph Abungu had never fully accepted Akoni as one of their own. They tried to keep this conversation to a minimum and focused their attention back on Alena. They could tell she was going to be a strong fighter as well as a loyal friend and loving, this would benefit the group as they would face many dangers along their journey. Looking at the child now, her beauty was undeniable. No one would ever argue against it. She was going to be a beautiful young woman as well as Nymph.

“Your daughter is lucky to be able to grow up alongside her true family, the others all had to be lied to about their identities as well as who their parents really are. Maybe this will make you more sympathetic towards the orphan you took in. Imagine if that was your child.” One of the goddesses explained to Abungu, almost pointed out what everyone already knew. She didn’t want Akoni anywhere near them or her newborn baby daughter. Yet, she bowed her head down in shame at the two goddesses, they were right to say what they did. Abungu needed to be more understanding towards Akoni and that needed to start now. Just as she thought this, Akoni skipped into the room with a smile on his face that no one could be able to wipe off.

The Angel

Akoni never knew how he ended up surrounded by nymphs but what he did know was the fact that he was different from them and that the beautiful woman who seemed to be their leader didn’t seem to want him there. When he had heard that the beautiful woman had a baby daughter, he had been more than ecstatic.

As he entered the room, his eyes darted around, seeing who was here before his eyes landed on two of the most beautiful women he had ever seen, they looked like angels. “Wow you guys are really pretty, like princesses.” Akoni exclaimed looking at them, as soon as those words left his mouth he looked down in embarrassment.

“I’m sorry, Nymph Abungu told me it is rude to shout out.” He mumbled looking at his feet. The two goddesses looked at each other than back at him and gave him gentle smiles. “It is alright little one, we do not mind. We are the ones who called you here. We have some gifts for you.” Rhea told him soothingly, Akoni could tell they were magic beings, just like Abungu and everyone else here. He had thought he was normal, no magic powers, nothing. That had made him sad somedays but he didn’t mind, by seeing what the other nymphs could do it cheered him enough to not mind that he was different.

“Thank you.” Akoni squeaked out then looked around the room again, hoping he could find the baby girl everyone seemed to talk about. As soon as his eyes landed on her, he ran as fast as he could to see her. The moment his eyes landed on her round face, something inside him made him want to never leave her side, he wanted to always be by her side as well as protect her from any harm.

“I promise to always be here for you and protect you for as long as I can.” Little Akoni promised the small bundle of joy as she looked into his blue eyes, he didn’t know what came over him but it was as if his mind and mouth had minds of their own and he just had to utter those words. Gasps were heard around the room as well as the voice of Abungu. “It cannot be.” She exhaled and stared worriedly at the tow oblivious children.

“But isn’t he too young?” One of the goddesses asked as they looked at him in amazement. He was only 4 years old yet he had chosen someone, it wasn’t unheard of but it was still rare for angels to choose at such young age. “Do not worry Abungu, this proves that your daughter will always be safe. The gifts we were about to give him will also make a big difference.” One of the goddesses assure the nymph but she was still worried, what if both of them were in danger? It was worse since there were still enemies out there that wanted to hurt them. She just had to make sure both children would be safe until one of them became of age. Only then would she tell them who they really were. For now, they would be treated as normal, well as normal as a nymph and angel could be treated.
