How was that an accident?

Fawn walked down the alley, clutching her knife. She really hoped that nothing would come out of the shadows. Last night, when the cat jumped out at her, she had drawn the knife, and had almost killed the cat! She had every right to be paranoid here, in the bad part of the city, but she really did NOT want to use her knife. She had weapons training. Every rich kid did these days, but she considered herself a non-violent person.

Suddenly, a dark figure popped out right in front of her. “Give me your wallet,” he demanded in a low voice. Fawn held back her scream and blended into the shadows. All the years of weapons training had obviously paid off. But... was she ready for this? Was she ready to murder someone? Suddenly, the man stepped in front of her. “I know you’re there,” he said.

Fawn darted through the shadows to a different place. What if I die here? What if I never get to see my family again? Everything I care about..everyone I care about. I can’t die here. If it comes down to it, I’ll kill him..but...NO. Fawn. Listen to yourself. But...

Fawn couldn’t decide. Would she kill him, or....

But she didn’t have time to decide. The man stepped closer to where she was, and lunged towards her.

Fawns body reacted without thinking. She punched the man and whipped the knife out of her pocket. Then, Fawn stepped around the man and put the knife to his throat. “Leave. Now. Or else I’ll slit your throat.” She removed the knife, and the man immediately tried to knock her out. Fawn sighed inwardly. Did she really have to kill him? She stabbed him in his heart, and blood spread across his black shirt. “I beg for mercy! Help!” he pleaded, but Fawn had no mercy. She took out the knife, and slit his throat. Then, she dashed away, towards her mansion, and the good part of the city.

As she walked up the white marble stairs, into her house, a drop of blood fell from her shirt, and onto the stairs. As she saw this, what she had done finally sunk in. “Dammit!” she muttered under her breath. “What the hell did I just do?“. Then, she heard her mother’s voice. “Fawn? Is that you? Did you get home safely?” Fawn saw the perfect opening to tell her mother what had just happened and decided to, but what came out of her mouth was completely different. “Yup, Mom! Just a normal day, with a normal walk home! I’m gonna take a shower, and sleep now!”

In reality, Fawn didn’t sleep at all that night.
