Good old Days
1923:
The backdoor swung open and I could hear James trying to get Steve into the living room. I sigh and roll my eyes as I could hear the conversation playing out in my head.
When the boys walked in, before James could say anything i led up my hand to stop him. I looked straight at the scrawny beat up Steve, "Steve, did James have to drag you out of a fight?... AGAIN...?" he nods weakly when he could see my face. I sigh as I put my book down shaking my head.
He limps over from being partly held up and dragged by James. He sets Steve down in the chair opposite of me, I look at Steve sizing up his injuries. He had a black eye, and a few cuts and bruises on his arms and legs. One thing that was particularly noticeable was the large bloody cut on his knee.
Once I went through the process of making a mental list of what I should get, I stood up, huffed in disbelief , and walked into the hallway to get the med bag in the closet. I took out a roll of bandage, gauze pads, an empty ice pack, and a few band aids for the smaller cuts.
I handed the ice pack to James to fill with ice from the ice box outside. I walked over to Steve and keeled in front of him to start cleaning his wounds. He would occasionally flinch form the pain, but never voiced it.
James came back with a full ice pack and two popsicles, while I was bandaging Steve's leg. James handed him one while holding the ice pack to his eye. I shot a look at James that clearly didn't approve.
"Keep off the leg for a few hours, And make sure that you eat Proper food soon." I said this with a caring tone while looking at Steve, but as soon as I was done I shot another loaded glance at James.
I picked up my book from my seat and walked upstairs to my room at the end of the hall. As soon as the boys herd my door shut they erupted with laughter. Steve took the frozen treat out of his mouth, and smiled.
"Bucky? You think she will get you later for the popsicles?"
James looked up the stairs as he sat down across from him, he used a mock desperate tone, "Well my only concern is that she will team up with my girlfriend and kill me together. She may look docile, but when you're left alone with her and she's angry..." he breaths in deeply through his teeth grimacing. Steve lets out a nervous chuckle as he continued to enjoy his treat.

I’m excited to keep reading and see where her journey goes next! 😊 Lizzy
