Prologue
Bailey’s Mothers POV
Birth is a hard thing to do. I scream as I push again, the medic of the pack encouraging me on.
“It’s a girl.” He says whenever he gets my baby. To the side, I see my husband, holding our two year old son. He has a look of anger on his face. This is not his daughter. I can’t tell him who the father is, because I do not know myself. I don’t even remember the night that it happened. The medic cleans my daughter off and hands her to me quickly. I look into her stunning green eyes.
“Hello, my little darling.” I coo. I tap her little nose. “What’s a good name for you...Jaylee?” She sniffs. “Oh...how about Annie!” No response. “Hm...Bailey?” A giggle. “Bailey it is.” I chuckle and look over to my husband.
“Do you want to hold her?” He scoffs and turns away from me. He hands Lewis to the medic, and they leave.
He turns towards me. “I trusted you.” He growls.
“James-I don’t even remember what happened!” I cry.
“Because you’re a slut! You’ve probably slept with multiple people, right behind my back!”
“No—I-I didn’t I swear!” I plead.
“Don’t even try, Laurie. Just don’t.” He leaves the medic’s room. I look at Bailey.
“I’m sorry my little baby. They’re going to treat you horribly, aren’t they?” I sigh. Maybe now is the time I should leave The Mountain Oasis. It wouldn’t be much of an Oasis for my daughter or I, anyway. I can’t leave Lewis, though. He still needs his mother.
