In which I get into trouble. Again.

I was going to get in trouble. I just knew it. I had to keep my reputation, though, so I shoved him against the wall. “Gimme your money,” I growled, so unlike me.

But I had to keep my reputation, so I hooked him in the face, real light, but then he fell on the ground, whining his head off. A teacher, Mr. Alda, came to investigate the commotion. “Hey! Coming through!” He yelled, pushing through the herds of students that had come to watch.

When he got to the center, he stared at me, then Wesley, then me again. “What happened this time?”

He asked, sighing. Now it was my time to make a smart comeback, for a better reputation. “You got a smaller brain, maybe?” It was a low shot, under the belt, but it worked.

He was rumoured to have failed his teacher’s degree around 10 times, until he finally cheated to get in. “Wh-wh-Go to the principal’s office.” He said, his face a tomato look alike. “And everyone, scram. I better see this hallway empty in two minutes.”

Then he stomped away, most likely to the staff room, to regain his reputation.

The office was a bland place, likely made to freak children out-or make them talk easier. All the walls were a bland shade of beige, with animal heads mounted on top. The only piece of furniture was a large desk and foldable IKEA chair, both occupied by the secretary’s things. Just then, said woman called me to go inside. “It’s time to meet the principal.” She said, a video camera at the ready.

I slowly walked inside, stalling as much as possible. Once I opened the door, I waited by the doorway for him to call me in. That was one of the rules, along with don’t sit down until I call you, and don’t smile- or look at me wrong. He was sitting with the back of his large office chair facing me, as a villain in a crappily produced horror movie. The inside of his office was not much better than the outside. It had a moose head, a stuffed peregrine falcon, and a beaver’s tail on the barf coloured wall. Along with that, he had a bear rug on the floor, which his office chair now occupied. “I see that you have come.” he intonated, slowly turning around.

“Y-yeah, can I come in?” I asked, leaning on the doorway.

As he reached a full stop, he steepled his fingers. “Yes, you may.”

“Um... Nice bear rug?” I wondered if this was the right thing to say.

“Ah, yes. I got it from the taxidermist across the street.” He smiled, looking more like a crazed shark than anything.

The principal was a large man, not fat, but muscled. It was rumoured that he once was a military lieutenant, and he had commanded a platoon of 70 elite soldiers. “So… Can I sit down now?” I asked.

“No.” he stated, “You can’t.”

So I just stood there, waiting for him to talk. “Whatever shall I do with you?” He asked.

I didn’t have an answer to this question, so I just stayed silent. I scuffed his rug with the toe of my Nikes. He pulled out a file that was bulging. “This is your school record-the bad things.” He said.

Then he pulled out a much skinnier one, with around 3 papers in it. “And this is all the good things you’ve done. It’s just your report cards from Kindergarten.”

We had been through this many times. The principal kept good and bad files of everyone. Everyone. The teachers didn’t approve of this, but they weren’t the principal. If they voiced any ideas contrary to the principals’, they were fired, simple as that. To be honest, we were on a shortage of teachers, because nobody wanted to teach at this school. To fix that, the principal made the wage around $60 an hour, and that’s pretty good pay. “Hey! You!” He yelled, distracting me from my thoughts.

“Yeah, what?” I asked.

“Sit down. Now. This is my fifth time telling you.” He glared at me.

He was right, but not in the way you think. I recently had become a “bully”, so I had 5 trips to this office, including this one. I quickly pulled the chair directly in front of him, and sat down. I immediately regretted it. It was an IKEA bought chair, with memory foam padding, but this had been sat on so many times that springs were popping out. I hopped out, nursing my wounded Gluteus maximus. He smiled at me. “How do you like the accommodations? Fancy enough for you?”

I glared at him. My family lived in a rich neighbourhood, but we were living in the basement of one. It was actually pretty big, with a washroom, two bedrooms, a kitchen, and a dining room. Fortunately, my mom was old friends with the person residing on the other 5 floors, so we got the basement at $100 a month.

“No, I rather would like a throne, decked out with 24 karat gold, please.” I returned an equally stunning glare.

Just then, the bell rang. DRRRRRRRRRRRR “Saved by the bell.” He said, smiling slightly.

I didn’t waste any time talking. I raced to my locker, got my bag, and ran. Screw the rule “no running in the hall”! It was the end of school! (for today at least) As I passed people, I heard them rumouring about me. The latest story was that I had grabbed Wesley’s shirt, spun him in the air, and smashed him on the ground, causing a type 6 earthquake. As I neared them, they immediately stopped talking and parted the way like Moses parting the red sea. Pathetic. I kept on running until I was out of the school doors. I checked my watch, and I got a new record, 17 seconds! I screamed in joy, “Yes! Let’s go!”

Many people looked at me, but I didn’t care. I was only two seconds off until I could beat my older brother. As I walked home, a fine mist suddenly covered the air. I looked at the sky, but it was still sunny, without a cloud in sight. That was strange, but whatever. I continued on my way. Suddenly, a hand appeared out of nowhere and grabbed my collar. “What the?” I shouted.

But nobody heard. A man slowly appeared, decked out in some kind of futuristic uniform. “Hey dude, maybe you didn’t know, but you don’t do that in public. It’s like, not nice. Aso, nice costume. Where are you going?” I asked, nervously.

I slowly crept back. He smiled, a crazy snarl. “I’ll bring you where I’m going, and you’ll never come back.”

I glanced around nervously, looking for a way to escape. “Um… You’re sending off really creepy vibes. Can you tone it down a bit?”

Then, without warning, he punched me. Suddenly, the world was in slow-motion. I felt 20x stronger, like I could lift a truck.. I leaned to the far right, going inside his punch, and kneed him in the... Manly part. Unfortunately for me, it was covered in a metal guard. “Ow!” I immediately dropped my knee to the ground. Even as I dropped, I could see that the guard was heavily dented and a bit broken. Thankfully, he was wearing boxers.

He pushed me down, and smiled. “You’ll pay for this. Oh, You’ll pay.”

Then he dragged me away, to who knows where.
