Prologue
Prologue
Dear Reader,
I know what you are likely thinking. This is just another story. But, there is darkness in this. There is darkness. Where others lie and say that the light is the only way, silence them. There is darkness. Darkness is what light is born from. Darkness is the mother of all, as well as the father. We reject our mother and father on the teachings of the stupid and the fearful. No, not your mother and father of blood. The ones that came before. Others claim to know everything. They’re senseless. They know nothing. They know nothing of the dark. Only what they fear it to be. They fear it evil. But, your small, human, minds cannot comprehend what I say. You’re all monkeys that’ve gotten too used to a fire to gaze at. When, really, the darkness gives all beauty. Light does nothing. It merely peels darkness away. And even then, its grip slips until the darkness, the mother, the father, the creator, returns. Light dies in darkness. Light is defined by darkness. Light is nothing without the darkness. And, that is where I begin. That is where I began. That is where my existence began. A creature of darkness, and a creature of light. But, to help your understanding, think of the two as beings. A demon, and a human. A male demon, and a female human. You can get how that works, can’t you, small minded human? After all, that is all your ape brains think about. I was created from that union. Of darkness and light. Then, I, like you, sought the light. I believed it all you do. And then, I learned. I learned it to be lies. I rejected what the light was trying to mold me to. I scared it. The light cast me out. And, think of it this way. Think of the forces that we describe, “nature,” or, “existence” as demigods. As for how darkness is the god of them. Think of winter. Think of cold, and wind, and ice as its spawn. Winter, and her spawn, servants of darkness, their creator, took me in. They brought me to my father. The “demon.” With the demon, they taught me their ways. They gave me their power. They gave me a new purpose. But, I am not a servant. I am a king. I am a demigod. I am not the darkness, mind you, but I am a demigod. And, the “demon,” a vessel of the darkness, taught me his ways. Taught me her ways. He taught me of shadow, and death. She taught me, of shadow and death. They taught me of what I was capable. They taught me of what I could do. But, they knew me. As, the darkness knows us all. It knew what I desired, what I craved, what I wished. But, time was growing short for me to learn. So, I was to return. The darkness gave me its armies. Its armies of shadow, just like my vessel of my father. The darkness gave me what it could of its power. Then, Winter bestowed upon me her three spawn. They were to be part of me. They were to become my servants. They were to give me everything of themselves. And, they did. They gave me their powers. They gave me their armies. They gave me their knowledge. They gave me their skill. And, they gave me a gift. They froze my heart. They took my weakness from me. They would soon give me my revenge. They would give me more than I could think at the moment. But, as time ran short, the darkness’s vessel was to return to its maker. And, the darkness spoke to me. Not through a vessel, but its own self. They gave me one mission. One job for my gifts. Make the light suffer for betraying its mother and father. Its creator. I will uphold that vow. And, as you dismiss this all as nonsense, remember that shadow that always follows you? It will be there to bring you back to your creator’s caring arms. Embrace the darkness, for it will only harm those of the light. The light lies and deceives, claiming it pure. It is not. Only the darkness can be. It can take anything. It can create anything. Return to its loving arms. They will give you what the light couldn’t. Everything. And, make sure to thank the darkness for having me invert your eyes from lies to truth.
