Prologue
You may be familiar with the tech companies Apple, Microsoft, Google, and Amazon. In 2026, a new tech company, SimCom(Simple Computing), was started by recent U.C. Berkeley graduate Ned Goodman.
This new tech company became so successful that it put all other tech companies out of business, therefore becoming a monopoly, or trust.
By 2036, the democratic candidates in the presidential election promised to enact the Sherman and Clayton anti-trust acts, destroy SimCom, and jail Goodman. What was Goodman’s solution? To run for the presidency on the republican side.
When the election results were tallied, Goodman emerged victorious. He replaced the U.S. Constitution with the SimCom corporate policy. Who was Vice President? Chris Devine, VP of SimCom. Who were the cabinet? The board of SimCom. The Legislative Branch of the U.S. Government was abolished and the Supreme Court was replaced with one judge who agreed with Goodman 100%. The U.S. Capitol Building became the Capitol Building of Goodman's new State of Columbia, once known as the District of Columbia.
Around the same time in Canada, there was a communist revolution. Led by Jim Pickens, the communist party's slogan was "True Independence, True Communism". The slogan meant that the communists wanted to totally eliminate British rule from Canada. The communists were successful in overthrowing the Canadian Government, and Pickens swore that he would eliminate democracy from the world.
When Goodman heard about what happened in Canada, he wanted to eliminate the new Canadian Government immediately. He ordered the destruction of Ottawa, the Canadian capital. Goodman thought he had killed Pickens until he heard the news report that Pickens was on vacation at the time and was not harmed. The Canadian capital was moved to Vancouver, and that was the beginning of what would later be known as the Five Years War.
