Chapter 1

Damin came home three days after he pulled his disappearing act. He had a cut on his forehead that Kate was worried about but Damin kept saying he was fine. Considering he hadn’t randomly fainted, yet, he probably was fine.

I found a business card with the name Jess Everette on it. Were they one of the hunters he’d been with for those three days he was unaccounted for?

Damin stayed in bed till the middle of the next day.

There was a knock at the door. I answered. It was a man about my age dressed in a tan trench coat, red tie, white button up and black dress pants. He had ash-blonde hair.

“Can I help you?” I ask.

Was he looking for Damin?

“My name’s John Constantine. Do you know where I can find Tom Peters?” he asks with a British accent.

“He’s dead,” I reply.

Tom had been dead for over a month and a half why hadn’t Damin sent this guy a memo?

“Dead, you say? How did the bloke die?” he asked.

“He closed the Gates of Hell,” I reply.

“Well, that’s why the demon occurrences have gone down. What happened to Damin?” he continued.

“He lives with me, his aunt and his younger brother Danon,” I answer.

“Younger brother? Thought, he died with Lane and Ava six years ago,” he adds.

“Why are you here?” I ask.

“Guess I have to talk to Damin since Tom’s dead,” he replies.

“How do you know them?” I ask.

“Ran into them a couple of times,” he replies. “Is he here right now?”

“Damin,” I call upstairs hoping to wake him. “Somebody wants to talk to you.”
