Prologue

I always saw myself working from the very bottom up, I never imagined landing an internship at one of the very best of the best sports entertainment networks. The opportunity of a lifetime was offered when I sent out my resume to a few different networks around the tri-state area, my main goal was to get in the door first. Morrison & Clark Sports Entertainment offered me an internship that I couldn’t say no to, they’re one of the greatest sports entertainment out there so it was an honor to get the phone call.

Today was my first day as an intern, I needed to dress the part but classy as well and professional. I wanted to make an everlasting impression on what I hope to be my new home as a future permanent job.

“Have you seen my red blouse? I can’t find it anywhere?!” I yelled from my closet, I still lived at home, home with my mother and younger sister. We lived in Waterbury, Connecticut while I traveled back and forth to campus every class that I had at the University of Bridgeport but I’m traveling just a little bit farther. Morrison & Clark headquarters was located in Stamford, Connecticut.

My mom was and is my biggest supporter, so she’s encouraging this new adventure just as much. My dad left us when my sister and I were younger, she doesn’t remember much about him but I do. Our mom never once talked bad about him to us or even bad about him to others, she wanted us to see for ourselves so I trust her judgment when she gives me advice.

“Nope, maybe you left it at school!” My sister, Syriah yelled back from downstairs. I continue to rummage my closet then sit on the carpet while thinking where the hell my damn blouse could have gone. I stood up then walked out of my bedroom and made my way to her room, I walked to her dresser and rummage her dresser while finding a few of my shirts and sweatpants. I don’t care if she wears my things but put them back or better yet, just ask and she can wear it whenever her little heart desires. I glanced my eyes near her closet the noticed my blouse hanging up with a pair of jeans as if the little shit had a hot date to wear my shirt for, I walked over to it and snatched it off the hanger. I heard her barging into the room as I lift my shirt up.

“You’re a fucking liar!” I smirked at her, and she crosses her arms while giving me a dirty look.

“So what! I need it, I’m going out with Erin!”

“That’s not my problem, see here’s the thing, you could have just said.. Hey Sammy, I took your red blouse because I’m going on a date with Erin tonight! It’s in my room, can you drop it back off later after you use it?!” I suggested to her, and she shrugs.

“Whatever, I’ll find something else it’s just a stupid shirt anyway..” She hissed back as I rolled my eyes then left the room, I went to finish getting dressed. I put on the red button up blouse then slid on my black skinny dress pants, surprisingly that these baby’s still fit like a glove. I checked myself out in the mirror while softly stroking my hands up and down my body then finding a pair of heels to match my outfit, I’m interning ready. I left before my mom got home from her overnight shift so that way I could beat traffic on this Monday morning, rush hour was a drag here in Connecticut. I plugged my phone into my USB port then turned on my music, I needed something that was going to help boost my attitude and encourage me for the day.

With me starting from the bottom, this consists of me stopping at Dunkin Donuts for my boss. I’m going to be meeting him today for the first time, I was interviewed by his assistant, Hailey. I was given a list of different drinks to order for my boss and both of our bosses and one of our bosses sons because I noticed that the names were listed as Joe Morrison, Brandon Morrison, and Jeffrey Clark. I did my research but only because I didn’t wanna screw this opportunity up, Joe Morrison is one of the founders of the company and Jeff was the co-founder. Brandon, Joe’s son, just became one of their cohosts for one of the sports news shows on the network. I’m sure he won’t bat an eye in my direction, and I didn’t plan on sleeping my way to the top because that’s just not me.

I stopped at the Dunkin Donuts in Stamford and ordered 4 different kinds of coffees, then went straight to the headquarters. I parked in the parking garage beside the building that connects right to it, the parking was very convenient for people in a hurry which I am. I barely made it to the elevator as it was closing but I noticed a few familiar faces, Joe, Brandon and Jeff and some other guy. I cleared my throat while trying not to stare at them but I felt someone looking at me, I hesitantly glance to my left and start from his tattooed covered hands then navy colored dress shirt and up his tattooed covered neck that was covered with such a beautiful masterpiece. I slowly looked up at him and made eye contact with Brandon, Brandon Morrison. His green eyes pierced into my soul as he smiled at me then winked and looked away, I looked away as well while blushing.

“Brandon don’t scare the intern away!” the guy said sarcastically as they each laughed a bit, Jeff sticks his hand out in my direction and I did the same. I shook hands with him and Joe, the other guy introduces himself as Dominick Antonucci. I closed my eyes for a second then realized Mr. Antonucci is my boss.

" I’m Brandon..”

“Nice to meet you, I’m Samantha, Samantha the intern..” I chuckled a bit nervously, he nods his head while smiling at me as the elevator finally reached our floor and I lift the tray of coffee up to them. They took their coffee and I followed behind Mr. Antonucci as I glanced back at his assistant Hailey, she immediately began to flirt with Brandon as he exits the elevator. I kept walking and decided to mind my business.

“So, Samantha, come sit! Tell me what are your goals and what you’re hoping to accomplish here with us!” Mr. Antonucci said while motioning his hand at the chair near his desk and he walks behind the desk then sits down in his chair.

“My goals are to make sure that I get the job done without overworking myself and my accomplishment would be to get a chance to be an on-air sports journalists for this company!” I expressed to him as he nods with a smile.

“Very big dreams that you have, do you have a boyfriend or girlfriend? Because this job can be very demanding and I wouldn’t want to see you fail because of it..” He says as I shook my head no with a small smile in return.

“Nope, you have nothing to worry about in that department!” I replied back sarcastically while laughing a little bit, he leans forward then crosses his hands on his desk.

“Good, I’ll send you a list of things that need to be finished up before the day is over and on my desk before you leave the building!”

“Okay!”

I worked for Morrison & Clark for 5 long years, the job had its ups and downs but most importantly, I broke the one rule that I should have never broken... I’m married to my boss, no, no, not Jeff or Joe and damn sure not even Brandon but to Dominick!

Hester: Very good, was short too the point , not lingering on the abuse, pity you didn’t let him step in earlier knowing the abuse was happening, but this is almost real for some women who have gone through it, just wish they could all have a princess at te end of thete tunnel
