In a way, it all seemed to make slight sense. However, believing your best friend as he said something so crazy without any difficulty would be near impossible.
“So... what you’re trying to tell me is that you’re not human, Yoongi?” You inquired, almost certain that he was lying. Only nodding, Yoongi stared at you and remained unchanged. Following his actions was the sounds of your gaping and sputtering out syllables.
“And you expect me to believe you right away? What’s going on in that mind of yours?” Hysterically laughing, you hunched over and held onto the thin leg of Yoongi as your eyes scrunched shut. Only then after a full moment of silence had you realised that he indeed was serious, and you quieted down. “Wait, you are being serious?” You asked in soft surprise.
“Yes, Y/N. I would never lie to you, remember?” Yoongi sighed, leaning into the plush couch. In disbelief, you sunk into the furniture item as well, staring at nothing in particular.
Could this day get any more strange?
"Can this day get any more strange, Taehyung?"
The two students stood in the classroom, clad in matching, gender-specified uniforms as everyone else conversed around them. Opposite in gender, they still appeared as close friends despite the stereotypes about sex roles. The male, with a deep violet-coloured backpack and light, honey brown hair, replies in a absent-minded voice.
"Maybe," his eyes were trained on their teacher, who was tidying up his own desk, "if I can manage to get laid by Mister Park." At his statement, the other student promptly hit his face with her lunch bag.
"Taehyung! He's our teacher, it's so wrong!" You cried out quietly, earning a cheeky grin from Taehyung. Frustrated, you sat down in your seat and tugged him into his own chair.
"Still, can't I at least fantasise about it, Y/N? It's hard not to when our teacher is the Park Jimin," he whispered, laughing as you glared at him and hissed back.
"No! He may be an ex-model, but he isn't that handsome to be thirsting over him," your reply earned a sigh from your close friend and a 'look,' which you knew to be his way of saying, 'Are you sure?'
"Yes, I'm very sure about that," you continued, "and no, I'm not saying that because I think Yoongi is more attractive. It's just a fact that I'm stating."
Sarcastically humming, Taehyung picked at his nails and rose an eyebrow. "Okay, sure you are."
"I'm being serious!" Annoyed, you cried out and rested your face on your textbook while hearing Taehyung laugh at your face, which had begun to turn red. However, his humour was cut short as your undeniably attractive teacher began his lesson, and he gained the full attention of your classmate.
Of course, realising you left your lunch bag in the classroom had put a damper on your mood, especially if your specific classroom was on the second floor. Knocking once on the sliding entrance to the learning space, you pushed the door aside and stepped in, seeing your teacher and giving a short wave."I'm sorry for interrupting your break, Mister Park. I'm just going to get my lunch bag," you said in reply to his sweet greeting to you.
"It's quite alright, Miss Kim. Just go ahead and get it, if you stay I won't mind at all," Mister Park sent a smile to you, his eyes hiding and becoming crescent shapes as his face lit up. Smiling back, you shortly answered him.
"Thank you, Mister Park," you walked to your desk, and saw a quiet body that was hidden away in the corner of your homeroom.
"Hey, Yoongi. Want to join me?" You asked, as your best friend never joined you in eating at the cafeteria. Seeing him nod and stand up quietly, you giggled excitedly and went to grab his hand, a smile present on your face as you waved to Mister Park with the hand that was holding your lunch bag.
"Come on, let's go to the roof of the school instead. I know how much you hate crowds," you said in a hushed tone, sneaking off to the stairway as a small, tiny smile formed on his face. Now eager to follow you, Yoongi's hand let go of yours and walked alongside your smaller body.
Upon reaching the roof with only minor difficulty (that being Taehyung bothering you over text on where you were), the two of you sat on the ledge. Heights had never bothered Yoongi, and neither did it bother you, so sitting on the edge of the rather tall tertiary school's roof was not that big of a deal.
"Yoongi, did you know that I made it as the lead female character in my Musical Theatre class?" You asked with a smile, picking up a cut-out piece of dried persimmon and popping it into your mouth.
Shaking his head, Yoongi denied his knowledge of the event as he took a piece as well, quietly whispering, "No."
Your smile brightened at his verbal response. It seemed as if Yoongi never spoke, however he made an exception for you and only you--not even your parents had heard his voice, and yet, you knew what even his laughter sounded like.
His voice was light and soft, and sounded dull, but to you, it was sweet. Yoongi always sounded like that, and at points it seemed caring. One time when he sounded that level of emotional was when it was your birthday, three years ago, and your parents had given you a gift you had been asking for a long while for--a dog.
"He's cute," he had murmured then, and the smile that appeared amidst your happy tears outmatched any happy child's.
Now, your puppy had become a dog, a full, healthy chocolate lab with the sweet, innocent puppy personality sticking. Not long after you had gotten him, you had wonderfully named him 'Busan,' after the city in which he had been bred at.
"Remember Busan?" You asked, smiling as you gently placed one of your cookies onto Yoongi's lap. It was a sugar cookie, a warm colour of dough and drizzled with sugar in the rough shape of zigzag lines.
"Yeah," Yoongi mumbled, as he had taken a swift bite of it, "He bit my hand last time I saw him."
Laughing, you continued after Yoongi responded. "Well, recently we got a second puppy and named him Yeonjun," you took a sip of the water you brought from your thermos, "and Busan's been very protective of him!"
Yoongi only rose an eyebrow, and listened in to your adorable voice, that of which outmatched sugary sweets, as you continued to tell a bubbly story of their encounter.
Eventually lunch ended, as the loud, shrill bell had rung in the ears of the two of you. Setting your now empty lunch bag down, Yoongi moved from the edge of the roof to a more safe area to stand up at to throw it away for you. Not paying attention to you, who had stood up on the edge of the roof, Yoongi crumpled up the paper bag and carelessly tossed it into the trash bin. When he had looked back up from his walking, Yoongi spotted you standing precariously on the edge. He strolled to you, and mumbled out, "Y/N."
Surprised, you whipped your torso around to face him, your feet stumbling in the process and losing your balance. As everything began blurring in motion, you saw Yoongi's face flash into one of mute shock, and he blurred as well in the heat of the moment.
"Y/N!" He cried out, and he leaned forward to try and catch you.
You were falling.
