Preface

My life is pretty ordinary, I’m a senior in high school and I live with my dad, who’s a priest at St. Mary’s, which is our local church here in Charleston, South Carolina, and my mom, who is a full-time elementary school teacher and a Sunday school teacher on Sundays. My life is pretty normal, but I do have a secret, I’m a lesbian and have known for a while. Unfortunately my parents have no idea and for now, I want to keep it that way because being a very conservative family, my parents consider being gay or lesbian as a sin and a disgrace to God. Anyway, life is great, but unfortunately it always comes tumbling down because keeping a secret like mine is extremely difficult, especially when I start to spend a lot of time with the girl in school and my parents start to notice and start asking questions. What do I tell them? I’m dating the new girl? Hell no. Instead, I lie and say we’re in the same study group, this works for a while, but nothing lasts forever.

Anyway, the story that I’m about to tell you will explain what I went through while being a lesbian in secret and how I came out of the closet and everything that happened after that. But for now, let me explain what happened before and then I’ll get to the after.
