The first guy
My first story begins slightly before I became single…
Flashback to April, 2012
The place: my best friend’s birthday party
The plan: drink a little, chat a little, dance a little
Every year I’d go to my BFF’s birthday party. This year I go and find myself talking with this guy, wait not talking, flirting. I am flirting! I didn’t even know I could still flirt. I met this guy the previous year at the same party but I didn’t see him like this. Damn.
This is the first time I am interested in someone other than my boyfriend.
I leave before the end of the night.
The next day (still April 2012 though)
Party recap with the BFF: apparently “THE” guy had asked if I was going to be there – now this doesn’t really mean anything, does it? Or does it mean something? I am kind of feeling like hot stuff and that I have seduction powers beyond my own knowledge. Ladies hide your men, because I am not sure I will be able to control this.
… I chat with THE guy on messenger the next couple of weeks. It doesn’t mean anything. It is innocent. He has a girlfriend anyway, so it definitely does not mean anything. Until, one day he says “your friend told me that you haven’t told your boyfriend we talk…”.
Quiz time – possible answers:
a. I haven’t told him because I actually fancy you and I shouldn’t
b. I have a very busy life and many discussions with my boyfriend. #youizboring why should I mention you?
c. no hablo inglez. Lucie? No no no, is not me.
Reality floods over me and I realize I shouldn’t be talking with this guy. Something is clearly not right in my relationship and I need to get my shit together before I do something stupid and disrespect someone I have loved.
May, 2012
Some time goes by, we don’t talk. I split up with my boyfriend and he and I start organizing our separation (leaving our flat etc. etc.) .
One day THE guy writes me, we tell each other that we like each other. We are both single now. We text each other a lot. Whoever wakes up first sends the first text, I go to sleep speaking with him on the phone, and throughout the day I am like a teenager getting excited about talking to him.
June 2012
The following weekend we see each other in Paris, we meet for lunch at his place, and … [this section has been removed in case my mother reads this].
We spend the following weekend together too. But, for some reason it gets awkward on Sunday. I go home… he stops messaging.
A couple of weeks later
The guy’s FB status updates to: in a relationship since the Sunday I left his place.
A little extra:
- I split up with my ex after a day at Disneyland, on my birthday, at a friend’s house after a couple’s dinner.
- Throughout this story I was still living with my ex. And justifying why I had suddenly got fully waxed to go spend a weekend with a friend in Paris was… awkward…
- My lessons learnt from this experience are that I do not want to jump into another relationship, I want to be single and enjoy no strings attached, and sex can be much more than I thought it could be.
- I bought a vibrator – nothing to do with the story of this guy. Just got myself a welcome-to-singledom gift.
