These children are able to speak and communicate in settings where they are comfortable, secure, and relaxed. Which is what they diagnosed me with. I didn't speak to anyone not even my parents. But she was different. She got me to speak. Maya has selective mutism. A condition that affects 1 in 140 children.That may not seem like a lot but it's more common than you think. Maya meets Aria during school and Maya notices that every time she sees her her heart beats faster and her cheeks flush. She doesn't know what it is. But she starts to fall harder for the girl every single day.
This is a love story. But not as you know it, for our two lovers are different to what you'd 'normally' see in every romance novel on the shelf. The world is more diverse now so I have decided to write a love story that promotes diversity.
