Prologue

In the world, there are four『Realms』which are acknowledged. They are the Demon Realm, Dragon Realm, Divine Realm and the Mortal Realm. In the past, these four realms were connected but now, the Dimensional Rift separates them.

As the names suggest, the Demon Realm is ruled by demons, the Dragon Realm by dragons, the Divine Realm by Gods and the Mortal Realm by humans. Out of the four, the Dragon Realm and Demon Realm have continuous strife while the Divine and Mortal Realm are relatively peaceful.

In the Demon Realm, a reign of terror has begun. Normally, such a thing would probably be welcomed by mass panic and unease but after experiencing such a reign every 2000 years or so, the citizens were generally calm. Even those who had never experienced one such period, only felt slight unease and anxiety after hearing the news because they’ve already learnt how to weather through such a period.

No one was particularly shocked or anxious. Their preparations were in place but they lacked fear and caution. They were ready but their guard was down. These factors were to influence what would be one of the most horrific periods in the history of the Demon Realm since the separation of the「Realms」and the establishment of the absolute monarchy.

The reign of terror which was supposed to be another dark time of history, became one of the darkest yet. Moreover, it looked like no one saw it coming…

In a natural forest where the Demon King’s power has trouble reaching, a stunning young woman with the body of a 17-year-old human walks while carrying a bucket with clothes in it. She has beautiful, silk-like, gentle pink hair, in parted fringe that flows until her back. Her charming, blood-red iris and delicate face with her snow-white skin further accentuate her beauty. seemingly mismatched but still fitting, a plain light green dress wraps her boasting figure.

There are several reasons for why a seemingly frail girl like this is out in the woods by herself. The main reason is that she is a「Vampire」. Her name is Jessica Roşu-Sânge and she is part of the Roşu-Sânge Clan of the 「Noble Vampire Clans」which make up about a third of the nobles in the Demon Realm. Naturally, there are also personal reasons as for why she is in this situation.

She eventually arrives at a soothing river with lush greenery at its bank but her mind is unable to think about laundry. This is because there is a handsome male appearing around 16 drifting unconscious down the river. As expected in this case, his skin is pale but it is also naturally snow white. His hair is silvery white and his all-black clothes have various tears that expose purple-black wounds but he wasn't not dead.

Usually, Jessica would ignore this because she doesn't want to expose her location to anyone who might be involved with nobles, but this boy is someone who Jessica knows personally and his wounds were not healing which is odd since this boy is also a「Vampire」.After checking that his pulse and breathing are in an acceptable condition, she carries him over her left shoulder and uses her free right hand to once again, pick up the bucket. This might be a bit much for a tender lady to carry by herself but she does it easily.

“Hah, looks like I won’t be washing today,”

After that little remark, she departs to her cottage.

She reaches her small but sufficient cottage. After she lays down her bucket to open the door, she picks it up then enters before doing it again to close the door. The interior looks similar to the exterior, simple and comforting. The first room to come into her view is the kitchen, which also functions as a dining room. The furniture is made of a green wood known as Treant Wood. As the name suggests, it is made from the remains of treants and is common in the Demon Realm. She carefully moves to the bedroom that follows after, while ensuring that the boy’s body does not collide with anything.

Her bed is also supported by Treant Wood and there is a small table with a lamp nearby. The lamp makes use of solar crystals, which are mined in deserts. When Jessica reaches the side of her bed, she gently lays his body onto it and begins to remove his clothing. While his body looks frail under his clothes, tough muscles can clearly be noticed. Jessica’s face turns solemn and she begins examining his wounds.

“Poison, just like I thought.”

She quickly goes for a special antidote for such wounds from the cupboard in the kitchen, and uses it on the injuries after cleaning them. In response, the black colour fades and is replaced by healthy red. She then gently allows the antidote to be ingested by slightly lifting his head. When his high recuperative ability starts up, she leaves to prepare food for when he wakes up.

’In the forest, the young man runs away while dispatching his pursuers barehanded, however after being poisoned his movements are much duller than usual. Thanks to that, he has no leeway to plan his escape and ends up cornered at a cliff.

With the two options, surrounded by enemies while poisoned or risking his life to escape, he chooses the latter.

During his descent, his mind flashes on the bloody bodies of his loved ones and the psychotic laughter of his uncle and he once again affirms his resolve.’

This is the dream the white-haired male had before hurriedly awakening.

His eyes contain fear, anxiety, worry and confusion. As he fearfully and cautiously surveys his surroundings while sitting up, a creak is heard from the door. There, he notices Jessica entering with a tray of tea and cookies.

While under his frightened gaze, she briskly moves to his bedside.

“You look scared. Are you okay?”

“......”

Far from responding, he just sits there, staring at her like a scared little animal.

“That reaction...so that’s what it is,” she mumbled.

From just the short visual examination that Jessica had done, she could tell that he had lost his memory. In addition, based on the great difference from what she remembered, he should have lost almost all memory of his past.

She puts down the tray on the small table nearby, and hugs him. At first he was tense with fear and anxiety but his body soon starts to relax.

“Don’t worry, I won’t hurt you,”

The boy feels unknown familiarity with that warmth which calms him down.

Jessica eventually pulls apart from him and nods at the loss of fear and anxiety in his eyes.

“So do you remember anything?”

The boy tilts his head and searches his mind for information. Jessica smiles at that action, thinking it cute.

“Rin, I think that’s my name.”

He does not know why he believes this but still feels that it is correct.

Jessica is satisfied by his answer and then begins to hand him a cup of tea.

“Drink it,”

Rin takes the cup and holds it with pre-set movements which seem to have been ingrained in him. After he and Jessica drank a cup of tea, they both start enjoying the cookies. While they eat, Jessica begins to show worry and nostalgia in her expression as she stares at him. She sighs as she remembers her only regret.

I wonder, is this the calm before the storm or another storm altogether?

This was to be the first series of events, which would lead to another uproar in the Demon Realm.
