Birth of Monsters
When earth was young, there were not but sensations. Then life strutted up. When sentience became a thing, suddenly a simple world was no longer an option. With the first mind, came the first nightmare, and subsequently the first of my kind. We were figments of those first imaginations, given form by the powers that be, for some no doubt profound reason, but damn if that isn’t hard to figure out these days. As humans got more complex, we went right along, every fear, night terror and insidious shadow given life in their mind and we revelled in their terror. Still do actually.
But when more monsters started to crawl out of the woodwork (sometimes literally) we had to come up with a system to deal with them without encroaching on each other’s territory. After all we are nothing if not possessive of the minds that made us. This system as made easy to manage when the big guy in the sky, made some humans fear judgement. I’m Cadra and I was born from a similar fear. It’s my kind’s job to make sure the monster surplus always knows where to go, what to do, that kind of stuff. It takes a certain amount of emotional iciness to handle the job I have, and I was great at it until recently......
I think I finally know just what he made us for, and honestly I’m not adverse to this. After all we are super possessive and that comes with protective instincts!!!
