REAP: A Reaper Cliche

Eternal destruction.

It was one thing I’ve always been forced to see.

People are born to die everyday and we, reapers are those who punished with the burden of seeing them to thier afterlife. Why, you might ask, do you say this task is a punishment.

I wonder.

December 25 -unspecified year-

It was a merry morning when all children, perhaps even adults, wake up feeling more or less excited. Its chrismas after all.

Kids rush up to their chritmas trees, eyes alight with joy, hope, happiness anf basically anything else positive, to scramble for their special gifts that thier mommies and daddies had secretly placed the night before just to keep those dreams alive.

Alive.

Irony. Learn to love irony.

It was the date I chose to take my own life for reasons that didn’t matter.

I chose carbon manoxide.

But ‘those beings from the above’ plan to prove to us that every little thing does, in fact, matter.

Every. Single. Thing.

They came to me, in many forms after I died. Dreams, promises and even angles, desperately trying to teach me to love their monarchy. Their absolute monarchy.

And then finally, ‘those beings from the above’ decided to “punish” this rebellious soul.

And this is the story of how I came to be a reaper.

Except, I don’t mind being one.

Will I ever regret my choice?

No, I will not. I refuse to.
