Meeting Madeline
As she walks along the cold snowy path, she shivered as she felt the cold snow touch her bare feet. She looked at her wrist startled by the time that was shown on the small screen. She started to run. As she started running she felt sharp pains through her feet and haltered to a stop. She saw the town hall doors as they started closing and forced her self to run again. Barely making it in time she let her body adapt to the warmth as she sat for a minute and took a breath.
"Madeline!"
She heard her boss furious tone, and jumped off her seat and stood in front of her boss awaiting a command. She tried to conceal her tears as her bosses scary green eyes looked right into hers.
"Would you care to explain why you were late?"
"Yes, Ma'am. Well, you see..."
Madeline wasn't able to finish her sentence. Her interrupting boss was determined to get the final say;
"Nevermind. I don't care, get to work."
Her boss said in the most furious tone. Madeline tried to conceal the tears until her boss walked away but the longer she stayed the harder they were to conceal. If her boss wasn't her mothers best friend, then Madeline would have spoken up to her. But she was afraid of what her boss would say to her mom. She walked calmly into the back room and put on her chiefs outfit and started preparing food for the hungry town hall members.
As she was working she noticed her mother's evil glances over in Madeline's direction as her mother was talking with her boss. Madeline was in shock, practically speechless. She knew her boss was angry but she didn't know her boss was angry enough to tell her mother. She knew the consequences that were to come in her near future. She saw her mother walking over in her direction.
