Chapter 1: landing

Phoenix looked around the craft. The floor of the craft soaking wet and covered in water. He felt the water soaking into his boots. “Hey” someone called. He looked up, it was Jaxon, “pay attention, Lieutenants bout’ to speak” he said. Phoenix looked at Lt. Joseph who said “alright this is what we’ve trained for! Get ready to engage as soon as we land.” Phoenix turned his attention to his M1 Garand rifle.

“Clear the ramp” the driver shouted. Phoenix looked at the door. As soon as the door opened, all hell broke loose. Phoenix dropped down to avoid the hail of mg42 fire... others however weren’t so lucky. “Over the sides!” someone shouted but Phoenix couldn’t tell who. Not wanting to die he jumped over the side and swam to the beach. When he reached the shore he got hit from behind by an explosion that sent him flying onto his back. He couldn’t hear anything but ringing in his ear. He got up and ran towards a hedgehog tank trap for cover. He looked around and saw the true horrors of war dead bodies, explosions, and even a guy screaming for his mom. He pulled himself up and ran, dodging as much mg fire as possible. When he got to the sea wall he realized that no one had the Bangalores he looked around to try and find the banger, then he found it... a few feet into the mg fire. Ahh screw it he thought. After another circle of hell he got back to the wall and lit the match. “Fire in the hole!” Someone shouted and boom! They were in.
