“Follow me,” I waved at the boy standing at the base of the stairs.
He looked up at me, a small smile forming on his face. His hair brushed back, out his face so I could get a good look at his young features. His happy smile, bright eyes, squishable cheeks, all of this was so cute to me at that time earning his nickname, Fluffy, which I called him some times. Even though he hated the nickname, he found himself answering to me when I called him by it.
He pulled himself up the stairs, he smile never fading as he followed me to my room. The window was open with the blinds drawn and curtains pulled back. The walls were pink-white with flowers painted on to have more of a garden vibe. My bed, which was on the right when you walked in, was covered with various covers that had shades of pink and white, along with stuffed animals my older siblings and parents would win for me at the fair or have them custom made.
In the middle of my room was a white fluffy carpet that had a table on top of it with chairs that I could sit at and color or draw. To my left was my closet and my bookshelf that held all my coloring books and stories my mother would read to me before I went to asleep. It was my room, and I loved it the way it was.
I walked in, placing down the box of crowns and 2 coloring books I had taken with me outside on the small white table. Fluffy, walked in behind me, quickly walking over to my bed and plopping himself down on it. He loved sitting on my bed as he felt it was comfortable and reminded him of me.
I walked over to him and placed a sticker on his forehead. He stared at me for a second before laughing.
“Really?”
“Yes, really! I want you to look stickerful. Get it?”
“Y/N, please don’t,” Fluffy tried to take off the sticker but I covered it with my hand. He tried to pull my hand away but I refused to uncover the sticker. I wanted it to stay on his forehead forever.
“Stop it, Y/N!”
“No,” I yelled, making Fluffy give up and sigh. Then there was a knock at the door and I turned around to see my mom, a small smile on her face as she stepped in.
“Who are you talking to Y/N,” she questioned. I smiled as I glanced at Fluffy before looking back at mother and answering.
“Fluffy!” My mom grinned as she heard the familiar name.
“Oh, but I thought Fluffy didn’t like being called that!” I shook my head frantically.
“He will soon!”
“That’s good, but we have to go see Grandma and Grandpa, so can you clean up quickly,” My mother patted folded her arms. I nodded, running around like the kid I was to clean up while Fluffy just sat on my bed, swinging his legs back and forth.
After I had finished, my mom came back to my room and quickly dressed me up for our trip. It was getting colder, and my mom hated it when I was sick as I made quite a lot of fusses. When we were leaving, I saw Fluffy standing behind the door to my closet door.
“What are you doing?”
“I was going to scare you but you saw me before I could! Why do you have to leave,” Fluffy pouted. I shrugged.
“I don’t know, but we’ll be back! I promise!”
“Y/N, you ready?” I turned to see my dad standing at door of my bedroom. He held his hand out as I ran to him. Giving one last glance to Fluffy, who gave me a sad pout and a wave, I closed my door and followed my dad downstairs. My family was waiting for me, and once inside the car, we made our way to our grandmothers’ house.
