Chapter 1
This city is full of surprises, at least to those who are new here. If you’ve been around for no less then a year then you eventually get used to it here. You know, the werewolves, vampires, the magic wielders. The dragons, even the one and only rare hybrid, oh wait, that’s me. There is so much more in this city than those categories. Humans here either befriend the supernaturals, or get beat around by them. There are the so called monster hunters here as well which was always another option for the humans who hated our existence, I didn’t blame them, not many humans could befriend supernaturals and those who couldn’t hand to keep their heads down or they wouldn’t have one, especially with the werewolves and vampires constantly on the prowl.
I myself was a dragon and magic wielder hybrid, the biggest of the dragons and strongest of the wielders, I ignored them all but they bowed to me to avoid getting their heads ripped off and I lived at the top of the food chain, they knew it too. I click the button on my keys to unlock my car, a sleek black, Mustang convertible that I loved. My home was its own, standing on the border of Mord City in the small country side there. My house was small and housed only me. It was a very nice house which was more than I needed but this was the trashiest you could get here. No one wanted broken down and ugly places here in Mord City, the place that is always so pristine to hide the blood stains on every street, to hide the missing humans and dead bodies. You’d be fooled if you hadn’t lived here, or for humans, survived here long enough.
My nose picked up the smell of blood at my home, my body went on alert as I pulled up to my cabin. I instantly deflated as I noticed it was just a bunch of vampires messing around with two human girls. On my property.
I pull up and the vamps snap their heads to my car, hissing. I step out, muscles rippling, lime green eyes glowing with slits instead of round pupils, a magic and dark wind, winding through my long, fire red hair, whipping around like living flame.
I let out a rumbling growl and the vamps screech, recognizing me, and zip away, leaving the two trembling teenage girls on my porch, pale and cold. Heat constantly radiated from me so the cold didn’t bother me.
The girls were underage clearly and had been clubbing, wearing mini dresses with smeared black makeup under their eyes and frizzy long hair, one with brown hair and the other with blonde, both with grey eyes though. They looked similar and their blood smelled the same, sisters then.
They had little bite marks, one with a single mark on her wrist and the smaller blonde girl with multiple all over her arms, neck, and thighs, she was more pale and shaky than her obviously older sister who looked like she was fighting tooth and nail the whole time.
The blonde flinched and started crying as I walked over, her older sister holding the younger behind her. I roll my eyes and pull the key out for my house and walk up the porch, the girls still frozen in place.
I walk to the girls and lead them forward, through my open door. I sit the brunette on the couch and lead the blonde to the seat of my table, right in an open kitchen where her sister could see her. I grabbed blankets out of a closet and set it around each ones shoulders, pulling out medication for them both, vampire fangs held venom that would sicken and weaken them if not treated, they had already paled, especially the blonde.
“What are your names?” I ask, inspecting the brunettes neck and dabbing medicine on it with some of my magic to close the wounds.
The brunette hisses at the venom gets eradicated, she barely had one bite, her sister had at least fifteen. “I’m Harley.” She says.
“Lydia.” The blonde says, answering too.
“And why were you two out by yourselves, in this city, at clubs, at any time, and how old are you?”
Harley straightens but blushes in shame “We snuck out to have fun, well I did, and Lydia wanted to come and she wouldn’t leave me alone so I let her come.”
“And how old are you two?” I say glaring.
“I’m fifteen.” Lydia whispers. My eyes flash as I turn to Harley.
“She is fifteen Harley! How old does that make you then?” I ask, causing Lydia to flinch and Harley to look down.
“I’m sixteen.” Harley says. My dragon lets out a roar as he rages at these kids.
They both flinch and fall back. “Please miss, don’t hurt us.” Lydia says curling into her blanket and crying.
I breathe out, running my hands through my fiery hair and letting the smoke curl out of my mouth.
“Where did you guys come from?” I ask eerily calm.
Lydia starts sobbing more and Harley speaks up “We have been brought here by sex traffickers,” Harley says “We were taken when I was fourteen and she was thirteen. The people we service are supernatural and we can never leave. We need to get going.” Harley moves to get up but I sit her back down.
“I will see that Lydia is okay before you go Harley, vampire venom is no small feat, especially when you’re bit to hell like your sister here.” I tell her, she nods and stays down as I care for her sister.
“How old are you?” Harley asks.
“That’s something you shouldn’t really ask people,” I say, when she stays quiet, I roll my eyes “I don’t know, I stopped counting at five hundred.” I know at least a hundred years past since my last one. I was the oldest thing in this city, but not in the world.
I saw Lydia’s jaw drop as Harley started speaking again “You look no older than twenty-one!” She exclaims.
“That’s because my body all together stops aging at twenty-one,” I say, wrapping up one of Lydia’s bad bites “I won’t die of old age ever, the only thing that can kill me, is something sharp made from pure diamond that can pierce through my heart or cut off my head. But only decapitation and diamond to the heart kills me, anything less than pure diamond won’t kill me or cut through my spine enough to decapitate me.” I always tried to get myself killed, but no one just randomly carries around an expensive ass, pure diamond dagger or some shit.
I finish cleaning Lydia up and help her to her sister, walking them to my car and placing them in the back.
They direct me to the disgusting place they live and get out. before Harley could bring Lydia inside, Lydia turns to me.
“What’s your name?” She asks.
I look her in the eyes “Dracka.” I say, then steer my back through the city to my home.
