Depth and Height: A Book of Poetry

All Rights Reserved ©

Summary

"Maybe the people on Earth won't miss me much, but the stars do sure seem to be calling me home" So I don't know if I can technically say this is poetry, because I'm also going to include poetic prose pieces, but if you like crappy poetry that is largely depressing, this is a good book for you.

Pretty

She painted pretty pictures; with all his pretty lies

She filled the canvas up with words; colored in with pretty dyes

She didn’t know the colors were all he’d leave her with

And every pretty story he told was really just a myth

She thought the world was beauty and believed the words he told

Trusted that the heart he gave her was really one of gold

But the weight she carried wasn’t gold but ugly pain and hurt

His heart was filled with others blood, scars and filthy dirt

She never had suspected the words were untrue

Until the day she noticed the paintings were turning into something new

The colors were all running, the dye was cheap and old

All the colors were now brown and gray instead of blue and gold

What once was a sunset sky and miles of deep blue seas

Was now an ugly and dark forest of twisted and dying trees

And lurking in its depths were monsters named Insecurity and Deceit

Their twisted forms and evil eyes made her heart skip a beat

She was filled with terror as she realized what she had done

That her painting had melted; fires of hell made of what was once the sun

And while it was his words that made the picture, she couldn’t help but moan

Because he was not the one who made the painting; she had done that on her own
