A Steampunk Adventure

"I had the great pleasure in watching this story unfold and I can't stress enough how much of a joy that was. I was really impressed by the slow, careful pacing and the well-fleshed out cast of characters. The author did a phenomenal job of setting the scene and carefully researching the time period for a consistent narrative and mood. Her turn of phrase was excellent, and there were many lines that were extremely well-crafted. Overall the plot was exciting and stimulating. There were a few plot threads that I felt could have been tied in better, but they lend themselves very nicely to be expanded upon in a sequel. The details of the 'monsters' and magic were horrific and haunting, and I absolutely recommend this story."

A Thrill Ride From Start to Finish

"FMG's story fully commits to her steampunk universe, not just the steampunk aesthetic. She uses authentic Victorian terminology, mannerisms and social structures to ground her story in realism and descriptive worldbuilding to explore how an alternative true steampunk universe might operate. While her setting is immersive, it doesn't wholly define the story. Every facet of steampunk woven into FMG's narrative serves the distinct purpose of moving forward each character's journey. You will find no extraneous window dressing here! You would think that a story that contained so many action sequences would not lend itself well to the written word, but then again you haven't read FMG's writing. She is meticulous in her word choice and detail, yet doesn't go overboard or indulge in purple prose. The result is a visual, dynamic story that constantly keeps the reader engaged in the action, whether it be a motorcycle race, fight scene, or masked ball. There is no scene that leaves you wanting for imagery or lush description, even in passages that include many characters. I can't end this review without talking about the growth between the leading man and lady, Soul and Maka. The gradual development of their relationship from rivals to partners, partners to friends, and friends to lovers is organic and believable. 'Aetherion' reminded of what made me ship those two characters in the first place. Thanks for sharing your story on Inkitt, and good luck in the contest!"

Steampunk meets Tron

"I think. I've never seen tron. I hear it's alright. This fic is better than alright, the main villain hangs like a guillotine over the story, but that didn't stop me from laughing at the antics of the main characters and squirming into a duvet burrito when the occasion(s) called for it. The only issue I had with it was the terminology of 'axel' for the accelocycles, and it's possible that's because of my in ability to spell without the aid of computerized assistance. (because axles are like, already a thing) The pace was excellent and I could feel myself speeding up and slowing down exactly as the author intended, and I normally avoid 'racing' type works but this one has completely changed my mind about the whole genre! (also the couply bits were like, super cute and my heart is singing in my chest)"
