The darkness was unnerving. Nothing but pure darkness as far as the eye could see. I could hear nothing except for my racing heartbeat, my ragged breath and the constant drip of water. At least I hope it was water I was hearing.

Never ceasing

Always dripping

It might not have been water. It could have been blood. I leave one hand on the wall to guide me on my way. The other hand was clenched around my sword.

Oh gods! Was that a faint breathing I heard?! I could not possibly have come this close the to monster's lair already! My mind drifts to the fact that all of the others who have come before me on this quest never came back. I'll be next.

NO DON'T THINK LIKE THAT NINA MARIE MARTIN! YOU ARE THE CHOSEN ONE AND YOU WILL DEFEAT THE MONSTER! You have to. I mentally shout at myself. That breathing was probably just my own, but what if it wasn't? The sword starts to slip in my sweaty palm. I wipe my hand on my shirt and hold my sword in it again.

It feels like the damp walls are closing in on around me. The heavy air is making it hard to breath. I've broken out in a cold sweat ages ago.

Oh gods! I'm going to die down here! Away from everyone I love, Fabian, Gran, Amber, Patricia, Alfie and Eddie. Eddie, my Osirian. Not even he can save me now. I must conquer the deadly dragon, or die.

I'm not imagining it now. That is someone else's breathing.

The smell of rotting flesh attacks my nostrils.

A ball of fire appears. The sudden light blinds me momentarily. Then I see IT. The dragon I have come down here to kill. In the new light I can see that it was blood after all making the dripping sound.

My blood will soon be joining it, and my bones will soon be joining the massive amount of others that can be seen all around.

Gulp

"You are the first Chosen One they have sent against me!" The dragon booms. It is an even more terrible creature than I had imagined.

"No matter you will still die as all the rest have done!"

"I-I w-will ki-kill y-you." I whisper out.

"I highly doubt it!"

It laughs. Its laughter is a sound that sent shivers down my spine. The tale of my death is being backdropped by the sound of the steady drip of blood.

"It is time for you to die Chosen One!" It bellows before shooting a ball of flames at me. I was too terrified to move, to save myself.

The last sounds I hear before the fire claims my life and the underworld my soul.
