Chapter 1
“hey Natalie, can I talk to you?” Fiona said.
We were all sitting in our local hangout place, the coffee shop, planning on what to do this weekend.
Janet said she wanted to go paintballing and i agreed. It seemed fun and a great way to release stress but Carla wanted to go the beach claiming she wanted summer sun to get Ray to fall in love with her. That’s when Fiona suddenly said she wanted to talk to me.
“Sure.” I said and got out of the booth.
Fiona got up too. Her four inch high heels made thud sounds as she walked to the ladies room.
I followed her in my stilettoes. I wondered what she wanted to talk about. Probably something about her latest boyfriend. Fiona always was predictable. She was the typical party girl with her blond locks, blue eyes and a very particular nose job that makes her look so much better than before.
“So listen.” She said, once we were in the ladies room.
I braced myself for the boyfriend talk. But judging her body language, she probably wanted me to do something for her.
“Me and David broke up.” She announced.
“Oh.” David? He was still in the picture? I frowned. I seriously thought they broke up last week at Ray’s party. If they didn’t then why was she sulking the whole time while we were there. “I’m sorry to hear that.”
“Yeah. It’s really a shame. He was really good in bed.” Fiona said looking away from me. Probably wondering about something that i don’t wanna picture.
“You okay?” I asked. She seemed perfectly fine really. But she wouldn’t have asked to talk to me if there wasn’t anything wrong.
Her blue eyes looked back at me. “I um.... He has pictures of me.”
I frowned. What? “What?”
“He has pictures of me.” She repeated.
“What kind of pictures?”
She looked at me, guilty. Then i understood.
“Are you kidding me?!” I yelled.
“No.. I know I shouldn’t have send them but you have to understand that guy is awesome at manipulation.” She said and sighed.
David was great at manipulation. He was known for that. Don’t be fooled by his casual smile and personality. That redhead is more than he shows.
“Can you get them back for me?” She said, her eyes pleading.
“Me? Fiona, c’mon! It’s David, we’re not even friends. He’ll not listen to me. Not to mention the awkward conversation i would have to have with him.” David and I weren’t friends. We just exchanged some pleasantries at parties. We had the same friends but we were never friends. It’s not like he’s a bad guy or anything, even if he is i wouldn’t know. I never talked to him.
“Please. I don’t want him to have anything to hold against me in the future.” She said, her eyes on the verge of tearing up.
“Oh, Fi.” I said and hugged her. She cried in my arms. “it’ll be okay.′ I sighed. “I’ll talk to him.”
Turns out me and David were neighbors. It astonished me to my very core that i never realized that he was neighbor. I had seen a few times around here but i thought it was because of Fiona.
God, this is gonna suck. It’ll be so awkward. Why did i agree to do this? What the hell was i thinking? I buried my face in my hands. This will not be fun.
I wiped my face once again and knocked on David Swanson’s door. FML.
It wasn’t David who opened the door. It was his best friend, Christopher Grayson. And he was shirtless. Holy shit. Fuck, he’s hot.
How do you breathe again? I had trouble remembering.
“Hey.” He said in that sexy voice of his with a smirk.
We haven’t talked much since the first day of school. He was hot then and he’s way more hot now. He had taken my advice that day and slept with Fiona and she told me that even though he was the first she had, he was a legend in bed, the best she ever had. There are stories about him that floats our school. He’s the son of a power-hungry warlord, Senator Grayson. There’s really not much rumors or facts about that, which is weird. His father is really a terrible person. Jess who was somewhat of a friend to Chris told me that he really doesn’t like talking about his personal life a.k.a his father
“Hi, I’m looking for David.” I said with a nervous smile, trying my hardest to keep my eyes on his face.
“Why?” He asked, getting serious.
I blinked. “To talk to him.”
“About?”
“Stuff.” I said. Why is he inquiring so much? Why does he care?
He smirked, amused. “He’s gotta girl.”
“Ugh.” I said as images filled my head. Why does my mind have to picture everything that the other person says. I’ve been suffering from this since i was a child. “Where’s his room?” I asked. I have to talk to him. Now. I promised Fiona.
“Upstairs. First door on the right side.”
He said.
“Thanks.” I said and brushed past him inside the house. I swear there was heat radiating from his body.
“Hey nat.” Chris asked from behind me.
He always calls me that. Not that we have ever talked much. But he was the one who coined the nickname. It was either nat or natie.
“Yeah?”
Before he could say anything another voice chimed in. “Hey natie. What’re you doing here?” It was Matt, a guy who i actually knew.
I sighed as i saw him approching us. It was good to know that there was at least one person in this house who i actually knew. Matt was Jess’s boyfriend or was Jess’s boyfriend. I faintly remember Jess telling me that she got dumped. I don’t know if she meant getting dumped by Matt or someone else. I don’t know. I don’t remember. All my friends change their girlfriends/boyfriends really quick. It’s hard to keep up sometimes.
Jess had brought Matt to lunch one day. We hit it off. He was really cool and funny with his child like humor. Since then we’ve been good friends. We text sometimes too.
“Upholding my promise. You?” I said answering his question.
“Kicking my friends asses in various games.” He answered, his tone directed towards Chris.
“Sure and I’m Donald Glover” Chris said, his tone sarcastic as he looked at Matt with an ‘are you kidding me?’ look. I looked at him. Crap. Why does he have to be shirtless?
I averted my gaze to Matt. “Where are the stairs?” I asked, reminding myself why I’m here.
“Down that hall.” They both replied.
I frowned and left them alone.
The house was so big. This hallway wasn’t ending. Everything was so beautiful and expensive. Hardwood floors, high ceilings and fancy chandelier were at every corner of this enormous house. I wondered where his parents were or what there career is. It’s Saturday and they’re not home. Weird.
I sighed one last time before knocking on his door.
“Not now!” He yelled back.
I struggled to obtain my next words. “It’s me.” I said and rolled my eyes. Like he would know who i am from my voice. “Natalie.”
“Can you come back later?” He said. Then followed a moan.
I felt like vomiting. “No.”
“I can’t talk now, Nat.” He said and another moan followed.
Who the fudge does he think he is blowing me off like that? I sighed again. “I’m gonna come in if you don’t come out.”
There was no response. I sighed. Damn you Fiona for making me do this. I opened the door.
“The fuck?!” He jumped from his position and rushed to get a sheet.
I kept my eyes on the floor the entire time.
“Hey natie”
I looked up to see Jess in his king sized bed. She was covering her self with his blanket as he has seem to taken the sheets.
I was surprised to see Jess here. I mean her ex-boyfriend was right downstairs. What the what?
“Natalia, what the hell?” David said holding up a sheet to his bottom half of the body.
“It’s Natalie.” I said. I hate it when people call me Natalia. “I wanna talk to you.” I said sweetly like i have not just cock blocked him.
“About what?” He asked.
I looked at Jess, then at him.
“It’s okay. Just say it.” He said.
I gulped. “I’m here for the pictures.”
He looked at me like i was a lunatic who had ran away from the mental hospital as he ran a hand through his brown hair. Why is it that hot guys always have hot friends? It really isn’t fair. It gets harder to choose.
“What pictures?” He asked.
I rolled my eyes. “don’t play dumb. That isn’t gonna work.”
“Worth a try.” He said and again ran a hand through his hair. “I don’t have them.”
I resisted the urge to roll my eyes again. “That won’t work either.”
He sighed. “Look you and I both know Fiona is a bitch. Let me have some fun. I promise i won’t do anything that extreme.”
Something ticked in my jaw. “the only reason I’m not punching or banging your head against that window for saying that about Fiona is because of her.” I said and gestured towards Jess. I won’t deny it. Fiona can be a bitch sometimes. But she was really caring and nice too. And most of all she’s my friend and nobody talks about my friend like that. “Give me the pictures, David or be prepared to get your ass handed by a girl.” I said. I wasn’t really planning on being violent with him. But he crossed a line.
He seemed in deep thought for a few seconds. “No-” he was cutt of by Jess.
“Just give her the pictures, Dave.” She said. Her eyes pleading me not to do anything.
“Yeah listen to your girlfriend, davvy.” I said, clenching my teeth.
Jess got out of the bed and started dressing herself.
“No don’t leave, I’ll give her the pictures.” David said.
“Aww honey.” Jess said and kissed him.
I looked away.
“Give her the pictures then.” I heard her say.
“They’re in my phone.” He replied.
My eyes frantically looked for his phone until i found it on the night stand. Picking it up, i tried not be surprised that he doesn’t have any code on it and focus on the task. I found those pictures under the album name ‘princess’. Wait- what?
I deleted the photos and turned to them. They were looking right at me. “See ya.” I said and started walking towards his bedroom door.
“Wait” Jess said and i turned to her. “Can you give me a ride home?”
I nodded.
“What?!” David said angered. Jess kissed him again.
“Call me.” She said and followed me out of his room.
☹️:-|☹️:-|☹️:-|☹️:-|☹️:-|:-|O:-):-|
“I don’t think David is a good guy, Jess.” I said while driving her home.
“I know” she said and looked out the window. “I’m just trying to make Matt sorry for dumping me.”
Jess was a cute burnette with amazing motobilism. I swear that girl could eat a dinosaur but won’t gain a pound. I met her through Fiona. I immediately liked her because of her incredible confidence. She was very kind and accepting of me. She was the most logical out of all of the others. That’s why it didn’t make sense as to why she would do this.
I frowned at her answer. “Why?”
“Because I love him.” She said.
My eyes widened a bit. “Oh.” I had no idea. “Aww honey.” She must be hurting.
“Nah. It’s okay.” She said. “So are we going paintball or beach?”
The fact that she was trying to change the subject proves that she was really hurting. “We’re going paintball this evening. And beach tomorrow.” I said. “Hey you wanna have lunch with me? I’ll drive us both to paintball alley later.” I said, I wanna be someone she can talk to.
She looked at me and smiled. “Sure.”
