Chapter 1

A girl of about 12 years old with gold, wavy hair in two long braids with an unnecessary amount of bobby pins in her hair, sat at a desk in a spacious room. She held a book with the cover of the newest romance novel on it. This girl was Veil Skiter. She wore a straight, tangerine skirt that ended at her knees. She wore crisscrossed socks and toe capped shoes that were a nice mix between vanilla and tangerine. She wore a white short-sleeved shirt, which was tucked neatly into her skirt, with a tangerine jacket draped over it. On the front of the jacket, was a deer drinking from a river. On the bottom, there were words that read, “Deer River Middle School” She wore a striped tie with her school colors on it. Unlike most girls in the school, Veil wore no accessories. Veil was a lovable, but odd girl. A group of boys walked into the classroom.

“Hey, Dodo! Why don’t you come over here and get what you deserve?” The leader of the boys called.

Veil continued reading, ignoring the boys.

“Hey, I’m talking to you, Dodo! Show some respect!” The boy called again.

Veil looked up at the boys.

“Alright.” She said, shutting her book. She stood up and walked over to them.

“I do not appreciate how you call me Dodo, and why do you pick on me, when I do nothing to you except show you kindness?” She asked with a blank stare. She then returned to her seat and continued reading.
