Multitude of Thoughts

She sat at the other end of the table, rolling her eyes inwardly at the men before her,all of them speaking at the same time. She knew Boris could sense her displeasure, his hand cautiously twitching, ready for any move she would pull.

It was the main reason why she respected the man so and had him as her first in command. The main reason why the man was always by her side, chosen to protect her.His attuned instincts to her own were a marvel.
She took a long puff of her Russian cigar, biding her time, waiting for all of the idiots to exhaust themselves as her mind drifted off.To things more important than the exhausting meeting before her that was filled with a bunch of opportunistic dick heads.
She had so many more things to think about. Things that brought a kind of warmth to her cold heart. One she hadn't known she had anymore until that fateful day. It had been long since she had been distracted by these thoughts during the day, especially during a meeting but a lot had been happening lately. Her instincts were screaming at her,and she was definitely listening.
She Always listened.
Otherwise, she would have been dead, something that both irked and made her extremely conflicted.
"Miss Balalaika, what all of us are trying to say is we would like to do business with you, supply our products through your territories in Roanapur and since the Triad scum wouldn't let us, we knew we would have common ground through our mutual dislike for them," the leader of the band of idiots spoke up,pulling her out of her thoughts as she appraised his shaking form.
The smirk on his lips was unnerving as was everything about him and his people. She had no idea why she had agreed to listen to them. Boredom maybe? Or more so the fact that they had already began to encroach on her territory.
Silence descended on the room as she took long puffs from her cigar, blowing the smoke out leisurely as they all stared in absolute fear, tongue tied and unknowing of her next move. She was known to be unpredictable and she loved the moment. When none of them knew what their fate would be.
"What was this man's name again,Boris? I'm afraid he is not interesting enough for my mind to retain anything about him," She asked in Russian, earning a chuckle in response from her first in command and close friend.
"His name is Mr. Katsuragi Shuko," Boris replied calmly, watching his Kapitan closely. She had seemed distracted and even though he wasn't surprised she didn't really care for the underling before them and the meeting,it still confirmed his observation. It was unlike her.
"Mr. Katsuragi Shuko, I will be as honest with you as I possibly can, alright?'' the men nodded eagerly, each of them going as far as to lean forward a tad bit, something that was absolutely unnecessary considering they were in a sound proof room, away from the club right below them that was in full swing.
''I have not listened to a word you have said since you began and you want to know why? Because you are a lying little shit who thinks that he's a power player," She paused as she took a drag from her cigar, watching as the realization of her words hit home before they transformed into absolute rage.
"How dare you,you ugly bitch! We did not come here to be disrespected!" the man exclaimed, getting to his feet with his men following suit, their guns pulled out. She sighed in exasperation, leaning back into her seat as she contemplated getting her clothes dry cleaned again and her shoes wiped clean. It had been a busy week and all the blood was getting too exhausting to deal with.
Maybe in the days of Afghanistan,I would have been more excited to have the blood of my enemies on me but they are nothing but inconsequential rats...
"Well, seems your balls just dropped. I commend you for being brave...no,stupid enough to draw your guns on me but all the same, its admirable whether motivated by your idiocy or your irrational anger," She stood to her feet, adjusting her military coat as she did so. Boris immediately stood even more alert, ready for anything.
These men have no idea they've signed their death warrants...Boris muttered inwardly, slightly bemused by their inexperience but all the same, pissed at their blatant disrespect of his Kapitan. He was more so surprised that she had kept them alive for this long.
"Now,I am going to explain this in a way that your stupid heads can comprehend. I know that you have been on my turf, dealing your shitty drugs in My town. Its the only reason why I agreed to this meeting. So that I could meet the group of people who were 'brave' enough to cross me even after Chang told them no. But, and not surprisingly though, I have been extremely disappointed and have wasted my time, time which I consider very precious, on you,"
Their fear was pungent as she watched their hands shake, the realization of what they had just gotten themselves into now dawning on them. Fight or flight was kicking in and she knew, soon enough, their animal instincts would kick in,pushing them to do something even more stupid.
I need to finish this...And finally get some damn fucking sleep...
"But,since you have shown me that you realize that you are in way over your heads and recognize that you were stupid,I will show you mercy. Let it not be said that Balalaika doesn't have her moments of leniency. And who knows, maybe one day you'll all be worthy enough to stand before me and not tremble like little bastards. Till then, I Never want to see you in Roanapur. The minute I walk out that door will be the beginning of your lives away from my sight." She finished, fixing each of them a hard cold stare, finally finishing off with their leader who looked enraged, a complete contrast from the relief in his men's eyes.
Pathetic...She knew that look though. He would do nothing. And,as expected, they all lowered their guns, looking away from her in absolute shame, including their short tempered leader.
"Enjoy your evening, boys," She said with a small smile, turning away from them as the door was opened for her instantly, granting them their exit. The elevator ride was quiet as her mind strayed back into her deep thoughts but they were interrupted once she and Boris settled in the car, their driver immediately pulling away from the club, one of the biggest in Tokyo.
"I'm surprised you didn't put them in their place,"Boris muttered, earning a sigh from her.
"Its been a long week. And,besides, they're nothing but rats, inconsequential. The day that they grow and become worth my time and my men's guns, that's the day I'll put them in their place," She opened the window slightly, reveling in the fresh air and the well lit Tokyo highway, the lights in the distance calming her disturbed mind.
"I understand,Kapitan...If I may ask, though, what has your mind so preoccupied?" He asked cautiously, watching her silently as she continued to stare out into the horizon, silence settling in all around them before she finally sighed in exasperation.
"You and I have known each other for too long,Boris...I was stupid to think you wouldn't notice," She granted him a small smile, one that warmed his heart as he shrugged at her words. If there was anyone who knew her,it was Boris and one more person she immediately expelled from her thoughts.
"Something is coming. I can feel it. Before then,I need her to come home...do you think you can find her?" They both held each other's gaze for a few seconds before he nodded.
"I taught her well but not well enough for her to be unseen to me. I'll handle it.Where should I bring her whence I find her?" She chuckled in admiration at his confidence though she had no doubt in her mind that he would find her.
"Its time for her to come home..."She muttered, her mind drifting into her memories. Boris knew that that was the end of their conversation but he already had everything he needed.
It would not be easy to find her. She had learnt well but it wasn't impossible. What he was more worried about was the conversation after and bringing her home...
But it must be done...It was only a matter of time...
