Grief and Souls
Souls romanticize over the nebulous, void we call Lovers and Handsomes. Drawn to the impurity of the pure wallow trees of Hope. That man or woman who embodies the rebellion of true happiness, because true happiness would never exist on human soil. It’s easier being realistic than to be hopelessly hopeful.. Their sharp smile, their tender yet rough touch, their darkened heart. Souls love the idea of them. But that very person they love, who lives in the pits of dread, is sad. Hiding the comfort of ever feeling better, avoidance of a new tomorrow. And those Souls know that. They use them to hide their pain and torment. After cursed trauma, after blistering breakups, after panicked fights, after forever traveling, after death...souls run to the closest Lover, and forget the heartache. The comfort is warm at first--warm, beautiful connection, but after a while, when the day dies and night rises, the comfort becomes hellish blue. Souls try to runaway once again, but the man or woman holds them tighter. Never letting go. Friends, family, and therapists sob for the Souls--begging them to come back home. The prisoned Souls struggle and struggle, no avail. As the years go by with phases of delusion and fear, the Souls stop fighting...but resents. Resents their actions, resents the cold darkness that holds them. Above all, they resent themselves and their emotions. How can you save yourself? How can you push the darkness away? How do you continue with this dreadful being right next to you? How do you live with sadness? Questions the desperate Souls softly ask. They asked but left unanswered. Until they finally realize, Grief never has a way of letting go to the ones who ran towards them.
