Prologue
It was a foggy night, The streets filled with busy people walking past everyone. Ignoring the poor, Chatting on there phones and looking down on there watch as they speed walk through the night. I remember that night, That day, The last time i got to see my parents, My family, Everything was taken away from me slowly. I recall holding hands with my mom and dad as they pulled me into a street alley, They called me a birth mistake, Something unatural for society, A freak of nature. I thought they love me but no, It wasn't true, Not true at all. They started to argue with eachother, Yelling names, Throwing stuff, Etc...but then.
" I dare you, I tripin dog dare ya! Hit me! Do it!-"
" SHUT UP! AHHHHHH!"
I watched within the shadows as i observed the object of what my mother was holding, It was a glass bottle, The bottle was empty with no liquid or substance, She then striked the bottle at my father's head making the glass bottle shatter into pieces. I can recall her body language, She was shaking, No panicking, Yes that's right. She was panicking from her hands to her feet, She knew i was watching. So she ran away as i followed her behind, I saw the real truth. She did this to herself, That's how she became a criminal and i, A vigilante hero of the dark.
- PRESENT TIME -
The name's link, Link steel. I don't know my real name since i've been called many things, So i call myself link, people around the alley streets know my name for how smart i am. I help people when they need me, To do that they have to do a mirror flashing code or as i like to call it, Light code. It's something i learned living in the streets of gotham, Easier for me to go around from place to place, So comissioner gordon doesn't find me. I'm twelve years old but tomorrow i'll be thirteen soon, Tonight the joker and his crew are heading out for a spin of chaos.
I began with a jog then full on sprinting and jumping through buildings, Then i can see an old friend of mines. Catwoman, She was out today, Maybe a cat does need a fresh air after all.
" Why hello dear, I didn't expect my favorite kitten would come out and play, Meow~" I smiled as i kept following the joker until it stopped at a warehouse, Filled with piles of cash and jewels all over the warehouse.
" Oh look at all that goods kitten, Kitty want and kitty like shiny things~meow." Catwoman smirked while eyeing the jewels and the load of cash that was down there, Oh boy, Selena what are you planning. I waited for the time being, Catwoman and i were like mother and daughter, She was the one who found me when i was scavanging around the alleyways. She took care of me but i still remain living through out the streets, She would teach me all her moves and how to steal and how to hide things out of the human eye. She was like another mother to me, She nicknamed me kitten since i kept her out of trouble whenever she tells me about this batman interfering her fun and by fun i mean schemes.
" Soo, What do you plan to do? Watch them or what?" My plan was to see if the batman would come out and play since i've never seen this guy anywhere but i've heard stories about him, Some where rumors about him joining the justice league but i didn't believe much of it. I can hear catwoman sigh as if waiting for me to respond or anything, I guess i could help her a bit, I'm not fond with being a criminal or anything but i still help her when she needs it.
" Okay okay, I'll...help you steal the joker's stuff." After i said that i can see her smile then smirk as she gave me a wink, I have a plan yes but that requires some distraction. where can i find that to lower this men away from the pile? i observed carefully, there's two men at the front and back of the building, five surrounding the pile of " goods" as selena likes to call it, joker and harley are inside a small room planning on burning the pile since i see gallons and gallons of explosives all over this one building and only little lights giving the pile a glowing presence, no wonder catwoman got attrached to the pile, for having cat-like instincts she can be sort of a hand full for me. I pulled catwoman to the side and got her to listen for once, did i also forget nobody ever listens to my opinion most of the time? yeah, it gets annoying for me so i do things on my own.
" okay, i got a plan but it's crazy."
" oh i like crazy ~meow." if i can get catwoman to take out the men on the front and i from the back, break the lights that remains there in the center of the room cause the lightbulbs are pretty dull now. must have been there for years now, with the lights out she and i can take out the five men inside and lock the joker and harley in that room with the explosives, that way we can get everything we need as soon as possible before the batman or the joker finds out what happen to his plans. at least i can stop the joker from doing whatever it was which is the least of my worries, it's the timing that's killing me. but there's no turning back now, if the batman ever comes out i'm letting catwoman go and deal with him myself.
" okay, i have a plan to take out everyone out including the joker and harley..but i need you to take out the mens from the front and get inside, when you do i'll cut out the lights and take down the mens in the back and the inside." catwoman smiled as she ruffled my short white hair.
" i always knew you where too smart for this scubbags anyway, okay kitten let's do this. just, one question." i hummed as i looked back at the warehouse.
" what about the joker and harley? aren't they gonna find out?" i smirked as i winked back in surprise.
" just do what i tell ya, i'll take care of them and the rest." with that i watched as selena went to the front the do her thing, while she's doing that i lift up my arm and started highjacking the lights of the room with my special gears that are attached to my jacket. once i hear catwoman finishing up, i quickly took out the lights as i picked up a metal card and flicked it towards the lights as everything is dark. I ran at the back as i roundhouse kicked the two men at the back alley, then i pulled out smoke pellets and threw it at them making them drowsy. ' that should keep them to sleepy and more time.' i thought as i joined in with catwoman, one by one we took them down, while she was collecting the pile i was blocking the room with the explosives. My plan was working, it's actually working.
" catwoman." i stopped as i felt another presence besides selena and i, is it really?
i looked back to see catwoman face to face with the only batman?! so the folklore was true? the rumors and everything? i kept doing what i was doing as i already finished up, this place is going to be the center of attention, while catwoman was taking care of the batman i started to lit up the place.
" catwoman, it's done! let's go!" i said as i quickly ran out through the back alley and into the sewers, i can sense the batman was following me. i kept running through and jumped into the sewer waterfall, i swimmed through the water and kept running until i couldn't feel his presence anymore but i feel more then one. ' there trying to surround me, i can't let them find me.' i thought deeply as i started to walk instead, i kept my sense and observation on alert. then i began to run again when i got out of the sewers i took my roots the heart, i climbed up the roof and ran. i can feel them chasing me, i looked up to see one flighting after me. great, the rumors are too true to be this annoying. i then lowered my body to the ground and held up my fists, who ever's out there, they know i'm here. like the sound of thunder landed a man with a red cape, blue suit and an S writen on it's chest. second landed a woman with a golden lasso on her waist, blue,red, and yellow outfit and red boots. The last was batman, he wore a black cape that covered almost his entire body, a belt filled with gadgets like mines except it was more advanced and blades on his for-arms. they were following me, one tried to approached to me but i quickly backed away getting ready to use my metal cards and smoke pellets.
" we are not here to harm you link, we just want to talk is all." the woman said but i ignored her and kept holding up my cards, it's a lie, there going to bring me to jail like gordon.
" liar! that's what everyone say and then they take away everything of what's mine! i will not be fooled again!" i yelled as i dropped my pellets and ran away, for hours nonstop running until i came to my home alley where i belong. i then lay near the building roof top and just watched the city lights, glooming around me like always. i can feel an alley street cat grooming me on the side for warmth as i give my black jacket and covered it over the black kitten as i leaned back on the ground, looking at the sky.
" so i finally got to meet the vigilante batman, huh felix?" i asked as i listen to his purs and meows.
" yeah, me too buddy." i closed my eyes as i rest on the floor, the last time i thought i didn't felt a presence near me.
" liar! that's what everyone say and then they take away everything of what's mine! i will not be fooled again!" with that the justice league where ambushed by her sudden surprise and lost her through out the night.
" wow, this kid's good." diana complimented as she looks at her comrades, batman in deep thoughts and superman trying to figure out what just happened.
" link is a mastermind at every moment she come across of a situation, she has tactical analysis, adoptive muscle memory and more." batman explained as he leaves along with the rest, he began to tack down link through the alleyways.
" she can run but she can't hide, especially if she doesn't know who she's facing."
" aanndd, how does that helps us get to link?" batman then takes a sharp turn and looked around, diana and superman behind watching him clueless as to what he's tracking down.
" she's here, somewhere." diana looks up at the roof and looked at superman as he nodded, they went up to see link surrounded by cats.
" uh hey, you might want to take a look at this." when batman reunited with the rest to see it for himself, they weren't expecting to see cats overflowing the roof.
" catwoman must be behind it."
" the only question is, why is she protecting link if she left her for us?"
" it was a distraction to let catwoman get what she wants and get away, clearly this was links plan."
" and how do you know it was link who did this?" batman then looked closer at link's jacket ' that jacket was stolen by catwoman herself, she must be taking care of her since they both fight the same way except that link uses her intellect more then catwoman.' he thought as he approached towards the kid as cats started to move aside but watching the dark knights movements as if they were observing, doing everything they can to protect the little child in front of them.
“ because catwoman stole this jacket just a few years ago, must be taking care of her after all.” Carrying the child in his arms as he turns around waiting for Wonder Woman do the same with the small black kitten being covered by link’s jacket, the rich smell of caffeine came from the kitten curled up by the warmth presence of Wonder Woman.
“ so what do we do when she wakes up? She’s very cautious when it can to talking to us, like she knew something about us.” Superman recalled mentioning the fear in the girl’s eyes was what made him feel sympathetic for the child, not knowing anything about the girl like everyone else.
“ including her strange behavior, she was observing, trying to get information at what she’s dealing with.” Batman replied taking the wheel of his jet while keeping a close eye to the child next to her, he’s been watching her for years since catwoman took her with her.
“ that’s something to admire about, not many are like that unless there’s more then she shows or tells.”
“ well, I hope she doesn’t attend to hurt anyone on our way back soon.” Wonder Woman said flying the the dark clouds and tiny rain droplets.
“ your dealing with catwoman’s apprentice or so she says but she’s different, she didn’t let the joker and Harley leave the place but did what she was told.” Claims pounding deeply into his mind.
“ so what? She’s doing both? Like green arrow?” The girl stirred in her sleep while Batman watched silently, he can see tears falling down her cheek bones.
“ no, catwoman already showed us what she does, and stealing isn’t one of them.”
“ what makes you say that? Did she tell you?”
“ no but when she mentioned about it made her frown, her expression explains it all but she didn’t refused.”
“ maybe she was forced into stealing?”
“ not likely, they have a bond, a bond of mother and daughter.”
“ then that’s probably why she didn’t refuse but the outburst...it doesn’t make any sense.”
“ maybe she lost someone?”
“ maybe, we’ll see when we get to metropolis. Sooner or later we’ll get answers when she wakes up and make sure you keep ahold of the cat, it’ll come I Handy I’d link try’s to escape out of her sight.”
“ sounds like a plan to me.”
