Chapter 1

Sparrow girl, sparkle fingers, iron cloud, and Neutro. These are all names of heroes within the pages of my comic books, although in my opinion they could really use some work. Even though their names weren't so special the characters were, every action left off the pages which made me feel like I was part of the team. But I also knew that it was all unreal I was just a plain normal teenager trying to get through high school, I was known as timid girl throughout the whole school even the freshman knew my name. I'm Narissa, I know its a pretty unusual name but it fit since I was pretty unusual. My parents always tell me that I was an answered prayer from God but I felt so alone in this world even though I really wasn't. I mean being in your last year of high school with absolutely no friends meant that you were going no where in this world, and I believed that even though this world is not my home. Every morning I would pray asking God to send me a friend or use me for his honor and glory, but I guess its just not time yet.

"Narissa come on down honey, we are about to leave for church!" my father shouted from the downstairs kitchen, I took one look at what I was wearing and then quickly ran to my closet and threw on a dress and then ran downstairs. My mother greeted me with a kiss and I was almost run down by two little children giving me a hug. Sadly my parents were only able to birth me into this world, but that didn't stop them from adopting two twin boys Caleb and Matthew. Yes, they were absolutely adorable but they were a total pain in the back. We all ran out of the house and into the church which was literally next door that was a perk since my father was the pastor of the church, Pastor George Alburn of Texas which is where we live, good ol' Texas. We got there and set everything up before anyone showed up, I was the babysitter of the family, of course I was always running around trying to keep my little brothers out of danger. People began to arrive with big smiles on their faces, and the pews filled within 30 minutes, everyone knew everyone so of course I wasn't invisible here, it was actually the complete opposite. It was a small church so we only had a couple of youth there, one of them was Austin Mitchell, he and his family have been at this church for as long as we have been a church. But in my opinion he was the cutest boy in the church but I never actually carried a conversation with him, which made my dreams a fantasy. But today was a special day I was finally going to talk to him, when service was over I walked towards him which there wasn't much distance between us. I saw his smile as I walked towards him and it gave me confidence, but when I was but a person away from him I saw the reason for his smile. There was a girl talking to him, she was someone that I had never seen before ,and I mean she was beautiful, she had blonde hair and blue eyes the perfect combo, I was out of luck. I ran out of the church building before he could see me, I ran up the stairs and into my room, I took one look at myself in the mirror with tears streaming down my face. I looked at my dirt colored hair and pale green eyes and realized that I was never going to get the guy of my dreams not looking like this.
