Preface
“All I had for you was hate and anger, how do you hope I would love the man who killed my father?” She looked at me with pain in her eyes, “don’t come looking for me. Whatever place you have made in my heart will be gone with time. It was a mistake that I better forget.”
The voice echoed in the end, making my chest contract, making my heart ache.
“Please don’t do this to us... Please!” Those were my last thoughts before my eyes flashed open.
Sweat dripped from my entire body, soaking my nightwear. My hair was a mess, so was my mind. My heart was thundering inside as the memory of that day kept replying in my head. It would always occupy my sober mind when not busy, as if that was not enough, it haunted me as nightmares too.
There was not a single night that had gone without me seeing it vividly, like it had happened yesterday. Even when two months had passed.
My heart ached again, at least it was not suffocating like how it had been in the initial days.
The continuous vibrations that had woke me up caught my attention. My phone on the nightstand that stopped vibrating, went off again.
My eyes landed on the clock on the wall showing the time to be four in the morning and it was the special line, that was supposed to ring only when there was something crucial to share.
I got up and slid the answer button, answering the call as I headed to look over the sleeping city. Even the sun was about to wake up.
“Raivardhan speaking,” I answered.
“Mr. Raivardhan, this is Kyle from Italy. As you have requested I have called to inform you that the Pagliarelli Prison was under attack earlier today and multiple inmates have been reported to be missing. I fear that the agent Silver fox has broken out of the prison, Sir. It’s been told that they had some outside help. We currently have no leads on her whereabouts,” Kyle informed from the side pretty worried.
After all, we had lost the visual on one of the most troublesome persons out there that could actually do some damage to us. We weren’t even sure if her grudge upon me had calmed down or even if I had to be on alert all the time to save my neck.
I couldn’t help but give a rueful smile to no one in particular.
If only... If only you could...
“Mr. Raivardhan, you there?” Kyle interrupted my thought process as he called out in a tense tone.
“Activate all the informants, inform them there will be bigger reward for whoever gets us some valuable intel about her. Send out the search parties, she must not have gone very far yet. Keep me updated with anything you find related to her,” I ordered sternly staring out of the balcony as I added, “find her no matter what.”
Even if she hated me, my love for her did not allow me to forget about her easily.
All I could do was wait for the time her hate for me would reduce while I make sure that she doesn’t cause trouble for my family.
Time was what I was hoping to heal our wounds, time was what I was betting on.
But don’t things happen when we least expect it? Things that tilt our entire axis and force us to do what we never imagined we would be doing. Or at least, I never thought that I will be doing.
