Hail before the storm
Molly always hated Sunday’s, her last day of rest untill she was forced back to the real world. Most people dislike the monday but Molly had always had a different way of looking at things ” don’t be mad at monday just because Sunday’s over” she would say.
Molly grew up being tossed from house to house in foster care, never staying at one place for more than 4 months. She had been told many times that "you're such a burden" and "know one wants you". Her mother had her at only 15 and three years later overdosed on heroine and died while poor little Molly was playing in the garden. She never knew who her father was all she was told was his name was jack and he had the bluest eyes and blackest hair her mum had ever seen and grew up near the beach in Queensland.
Molly had jet black curly hair striking blue eyes and olive skin some small freckles and of an hour glass figure that she had been bullied for in the past. So bad that she had to move schools, not like that didn't happen anyway that's why she could never get a good group of friends. She once stayed in a house that she had to sleep on just a blanket and pillow as all the rooms where full of other kids. She was even homeless for 8 months.
Molly is now 20 and is in University trying to get a psychology degree. She had always hated routines as she would never stick to one place, it is hard for her to go to school everyday and learn the same stuff with so much pressure
" Molly Harris can I speak to you” her professed yelled at the end of a lecture , worried Molly stuffed her books into her bag and went down the stairs to his desk
" yes what is it? Have I missed any work I was sick last week I can do it tonight but-” she was stopped with a look of pity.
“No nothing like that M-Molly your-” he sighs ” your not going to make it to the end of this year” he said hesitant.
“What! Why am I behind?” Molly’s heart started racing a million questions filled her brain all she had worked for and ‘she’s not going to make it’ really.
" Yes horribly your pappers are late and not finished, you hardly come to class and are always day dreaming, Molly we are looking at you and the reality is if you want to finish this course you will have to re enroll and start again next year or finish now with an incomplete degree”
Tears filled Molly’s eyes, how could she let somthing like this happen to her, she thought she worked hard and did her best if she waited another year and messed up again what would she do?
“Look we are very sorry for this but there is nothing we can do” he said giving her a tissue. “We are giving you a weeks notice to find somewhere else to stay off campus and then we will have to give your dorm to somebody else” instantly changing his tone as if he didn’t care.
Molly rushed to her room and quickly packed all of the stuff she needed and went to her car, leaving her bed and other furniture she couldn’t bare seeing that place again. Molly had an old orange kombi van she got it cheap from her friends dad when he was chucking it away, it was the only thing that she felt was her home and belonged to her. Sitting in the bed in the back of the van crying Molly tried to think of her life if she had been brought up with real parents how different it would be, all the opportunities she would have. Where would she go now who would she go to she has no parents , her only friends are at the university and she can’t stay there.
Molly looked around and saw a book full of letters she wrote as a teenager one of which was a bucket list with a star next to the ones she had already completed next to a map of Australia.
1. Go to Bondi beach *
2. Sleep night in rain forest
3. Visit place your Idol grew up *
4. find dad
As soon as she saw number 4 she started to cry even more. How had she never tried to find him before she doesn’t even know his full name how could she find him? The sudden erge to find him rushed through her body she got out the map and marked the roads she would take and impusly started on her road trip.
