Confessions.
"When my bra matches my underwear, I feel like I've finally got my life together." Natasha muttered, taking a swig at her vodka. Everyone was huddled around a circular table. The whole room was cocooned in darkness, the only source of light was from the ceiling, pouring it's rays around shielding them from the shadows. They were all exchanging secrets and confessing tales, but that was all due to the amount of alcohol they had.
Natalia knew that she was going to regret it but honestly, right now she couldn't care less. The team was sat around a large table, and moved from one person to another anti-clockwise hoping to spill some tea, but one rule was that if you could relate to what that person had done or confessed, you had to take a shot or a massive gulp. Right after her confession, Natasha, Wanda and Pepper took a swig, even Sam.
"Sam you have a pair of matching underwear and bras?" Tony clamped a hand over his mouth to prevent his roaring laughter to come gushing out, but splattered chuckles slipped past.
"Just in case, y'know if you have a girl over and you tear up her underwear I can't chuck her out without any on." A few giggles swept across the room but mostly shook heads and tired faces accompanied the laughter. Sam only shrugged in response.
"Well Buckaroo you're next." Tony raised his glass as a mischievous smile plastered his smug face.
"Well.." He started, his face crumpling as he debated to himself whether or not he would confess. With a sigh and an ashamed look lined across his face, he said:
"I might have a special eye on someone." The whole room went silent and you could read on Bucky's face that he wish he had never made that decision.
Tony half leapt over the table with a wolfish grin, no doubt he's going to keep pestering the poor guy. Natasha only raised a brow and shot him a glance. This ought to get interesting. No one took a chug, except from Natasha. Tony's mouth kept gaping in disbelief.
"You too? Ooh this got interesting." Tony's attention turned to her, and all she did was tug her lips into a grin.
"May I ask, the person in mind by any chance, high chance really, could be this handsome young-ish man?" Stark swayed a little, bottle in hand as he attempted to pull a flirtatious expression, which really wasn't appealing. He soon settled after being shot a death glare from Pepper causing the Natalia to chuckle.
"Wouldn't dream of it Stark." She could see him deflate a little, fuelling her smile. Although she didn't miss the surprised gaze from Bucky.
"Care to spill who you like?" She asked James, he snapped his head towards her alerted and instantly, a blush crept upon his cheeks.
"Nah that's the furthest I'm going. Actually it is quite late.. I must be on my way. Thank you Tony, for hosting tonight." He slightly scoffed at Stark's name before leaving the table and walked out in under a heartbeat. Natasha wasn't lying when she confirmed she also had her eyes on someone, and it might've been her or the alcohol the assassin doesn't know herself but she sure as hell will be expecting Tony to be on her's and James' ass.
"Seems like a good idea, I have a brief before sunrise so I should rest too, good night and farewell." Natasha excused herself from the table waving a small goodbye to everyone except Tony. She'll deal with him later. Right now she needed to find James, just to comfort him.
She stalked the network of corridors, following the river of light illuminated from the lamps which parted the shadows, sending them scurrying in the cracks and corners when she passed. While she walked, Natasha couldn't help but ponder. She was quite surprised he had feelings for someone, especially as he is such a quiet character. But as Natalia thought on it, she has noticed a change in his behaviour. Whenever she entered the same room as him, Bucky would always find an excuse to leave and would only re-appear once she left like he was attempting to avoid her. Also, he only chipped in the game tonight because he was unaware of her presence and Steve (for some reason) insisted that he should join them for some fun. Guess it backfired. James was also quite alert and seemed to shuffle and fidget as if he was uncomfortable but he seemed happy near everyone else... Just Romanoff.
As she turned the corner to a more shadowed corridor her eyes adjusted to carve a figure from the rumbling darkness ahead, the big give-away was the glistening of light reflecting off of a metal material, shifting due to movement. She silently approached him and pressed herself against the wall that ran behind him to submerge herself in the shadows. As Natalia got closer, she found that he was struggling to find the right key to his door, probably because of the dark. Once she placed herself behind him, her presence unnoticed, she spoke.
"Having trouble there Barns?" His whole body snapped towards her in a fluid movement whilst also pinning her to the wall in instinct. She knew sneaking up on him was a bad idea, but she knew he would react this way, deliberately putting herself in this situation.
"Nat you... Made me jump." Bucky sighed, he loosened his grip and returned to the door in which he was now very desperate to open. Natasha could tell he was hurrying and that her presence made him uneasy.
"Need any help?" She stepped forward, and Immediately retreated once he yet again snapped in her direction.
"No." His voice was low as he growled, a hint of irritation in his tone and more aggressive turn of behaviour.
"Why are you annoyed?" Romanoff pushed, folding her arms tightly across her chest burning holes into his back.
"I'm not." Bucky answered a little too quickly. It was blatantly obvious that he was lying and both of them knew it.
"You clearly are, do you want to talk?" James sighed in frustration, and with his organic hand he threw a punch at his door, trying not to knock it down in the process which, to be honest, he was tempted to. Bucky tilted his head back and pinched the bridge of his nose with his thumb and index finger, squeezing his eyes shut, exhaling again.
"No 'Tasha I just want to be alone." He paused his attack on his door to turn and face Natasha, a signature of distress written across his face.
"Ok well you have my number in case you want to talk, also-" She cut herself off as she took Bucky's keys, fumbling around with them a little before slotting it into the keyhole and twisted it until the 'click' peaked at their ears.
"Don't be shy to ask for help." She finished, returning him the keys and offering him a a heartwarming smile, James returned the warm gesture before pulling her into a hug as a thank you, his confidence slowly building and anger seeping out of his mind.
"One quick question..." Natasha mumbled, pulling herself away from his embrace. Bucky tilted his head, his soft, shinning blue eyes cutting through her own.
"Why are you avoiding me?" This turn Natalia mimicked his movement by cocking her head to the side, letting her crimson hair cascade over her shoulder in question. For a moment Bucky just gaped, raising his shoulders before dropping them with a sigh.
"I don't know." He stared hopelessly into her eyes, wishing that she wouldn't pick up on his body movement, but Natasha being Natasha, she already knew the answer.
"Yes you do." Romanoff folded her arms, awaiting for his response. She only received a sinking frown from James before he pressed his lips into a thin line and furrowed his eyebrows.
"I really don't." Is what he could come up with.
"You're a terrible liar." Natasha huffed, a mischievous side-smile tugged at her lips as her eyes were lit with amusement. She would stop pestering him... For now. As she stepped aside and went to walk past him, Bucky reached and placed his hand in front of her, pausing Natasha in her tracks. She turned to look at him but could only see a curtain of hair hiding his hanging head.
Without any warning, he pulled Natasha into his embrace before locking his lips with hers, almost lifting her off her toes. She moaned at the sudden contact but melted into the passionate kiss. She felt his cold and warm hands roam down her hips and tap at her thighs, a silent indication for her to jump. She complied and leapt, hooking her legs around his waist as he supported her with both hands under her thighs. Their lips synced perfectly, their tongues dancing almost claiming each other whilst fighting for dominance. Natasha let him win and she felt his smile against her lips, he allowed her hands to run through his hair tugging him closer... Until they were rudely interrupted.
"What the fuck?" Tony stood completely astonished to what he was witnessing, Natasha and James broke apart not either bothering to hide their horror and embarrassment. The couple slightly cringed as they heard Stark's bottle of alcohol hit the floor and scatter glass everywhere- this is going to be a long night.
"Tony, if you breathe a word about this, I promise you'll have no lungs to breathe with." Natasha's cold glare pierced through his, although his features remained shocked with his jaw nearly hitting the floor, he swallowed.
"Well... Just take it easy. I don't know if these walls can block out a Super Soldier AND an assassin." Stark chuckled, winking at the pair which exchanged glances of hatred towards him,
"I'll keep my mouth shut." He slowly retreated, arms held in the air in surrender but the gut churning grin still etched on his smug face.
"I'll have a hard time believing that." He muttered to Natasha in Russian, making her chuckle a little, before they pulled each other into James bedroom.
