Hi, my name is Michelle! I work in a diner and I take care of my mother who is severally ill. She has been for the last 5 years and the doctors can't figure out what it is. The people who work at the diner with me is Kinsey and my boss Mike. Kinsey is my friend who I don't really hang out with but I try to sometimes.
My dad left me when I was about 8 and he has never returned. He told my mom he would be back after he was done in Vermont figuring out what he wanted to do for a job. Of course he never did find a job or even come back.
I never missed him, but I still wished him the best. Kinsey shook me as a man in a booth was shouting my name from my name tag. "Hey! We've been waiting for our food where is it?" I looked up from the ground and over to him. I've been a work addict these last few years. I'm 22 and I have nothing going for me.
"Sorry I'll get your order right away sir!" I said in a hurry over to the counter. I grabbed his plate and handed it to him. "Um...this is not what I ordered!" he said yelling at me. "Oh sorry I will fix that!" I took the plate off the table and placed another plate at his booth.
"About time!" the man said. I kept thinking to myself, *why is this guy such a douche?*.
After the man was done eating at the table I went to clean up and saw 50 cents. "What the hell! I work day and night and we get assholes like him that tip nothing!", I said in anger. Mike just looked at me smiling, "Well you could take an extra shift if you would like. I'm sure Kinsey would like the day off anyways." Kinsey just looked at me begging me to but I couldn't, I had to take care of my mom at home.
"Sorry Mike I would but I have to go home to see my mom tonight. She's been bad this past night and I think she will need me around a little more. That reminds me can I have the day off tomorrow?" Mike just nodded. I looked at the rusty clock above the oven and saw it way 7:45.
"Well I guess I'll see you guys later!" I took off my apron and name tag and put it in my locker. I pulled out my earbuds and walked outside with Kinsey giving me the finger. I just smiled and kept walking to the bike rack.
I put in my earbuds and looked at my mp3 player and saw my favorite Artist's playlist, AURORA. I clicked play and unlocked my bike and began to ride down the sidewalk. I looked up at the sky and whispered to myself, "I just want to go somewhere."
I've always wanted to go somewhere else than here. It sucks here. I hate living in Greensburg because there's nothing to do here. There's no pretty trees or hills. I want to see Cherry Trees or a Pretty garden and I want to fly allover the world. "I just might here soon." I whisper to myself.
