Prologue

December 20, 2010

“I’ve been waiting for you,” Cameron said with that sweet tone that melted my heart completely.

Watching me with sweet, gentle eyes; those honey-colored eyes that looked at me in a way that would touch my soul and easily pull a smile out of me. His smile flattered my heart, my weak heart that loves him more and more every day.

“I’m here now,” I said, my heart still sped up like the first time we made eye contact.

His hair not as long as before but still messy; his beard more visible now. Seeing him again was like a dream, an amazing dream that made me believe in miracles, in love, and in second chances.

Even though it hurts, it still hurts so much to hold back the urge to run up to him and let him wrap me in his arms, because I was afraid. Afraid of it just being a dream, an unbelievable dream that will disappear as soon as I touch him.

Reaching out his hand to me, I hesitate for a moment. I didn’t want to wake up from this dream. I wasn't ready to let go of him. Cameron noticed immediately, and his eyes showed a profound sorrow that tightened my chest. Why? After everything we went through. All the pain, all the misery, and mixed feelings. He's the reason I'm here now. For him, for me, for us.

Taking a deep breath, I reach to take his hand, and just like that, I realized that this was where I was supposed to be all along. This was my mission in life.

My life felt complete at the touch of Cameron’s hand, a hand I never wanted to let go, ever again. He smiled gently, although all I wanted to do was cry. I smiled, I smiled for him.

“I’ve been going in circles all my life, fighting my own fears...” I stutter, taking a look at his shaking hand. Cameron was bigger and more mature; he had left his bad-boy image behind.

“I finally have everything clear, and I want to tell you now.” My voice was just a low sound that only he could hear; he was listening carefully, though. He always did.

“I know now, from now and forever, I will love you. Only you. Cameron.” I said without hesitation.

The sincere, bright look in his honey-colored eyes made me feel relieved. Holding up the tears in my eyes, I waited for him to say something. Just like I did, but he didn't. Instead, he lowered his eyes to take a look at my hands, my pale-looking hands. Lowering his face to kiss them gently.

“So do I. I love you more than you could ever know,” he answered in a low whisper, the pain in my chest, and the knot in my throat, everything vanished at the sound of his words. I missed his voice, his eyes, and his touch. I missed Cameron Derwood.

“I love you,” he said again, leaning closer to my face. I closed my eyes as our lips touched gently, waking up all the feelings I had carried with me for more than three years.

Obsidian: He's hilarious. Like, actually. I loved it. You're writing style is great, although you could do with a few less murmurs and mutters. I know it sounds critical, but I have the same problem and I hate it. Overall, it was one of the best stories I've read on here so far. I liked it better than those M...
