The Start

Chapter 1

The start

A boy with jet-black hair sat on his bed. The door to his room was locked, with some chairs and tables acting as a blockage. Slowly, his hands reached out from under his study table, grabbing a small, transparent looking packet. He reached in and took out the drug.

As he placed it in his mouth, a surge of happiness coursed through him.

His worries were gone, only to be replaced by a rush of adrelin.

He ate more of the drug.

He dimly remembered the sound of the door opening as the blockages fell aside before he entered a state of pure bliss.

Sally Jackson paced nervously across the room. Her mouths formed agitated words as she held the phone to her ears. She always knew her son was different. She had always wanted to protect him, but now.....

He was a troubled young boy.

Sure, she wasn't ashamed of his condition. She had even blamed herself for what had happened. But now.....

"We will get you treated son." She said as she hung up the phone.

The boy's fingers drummed impatiently on the coffee table. His eyes that were once filled with life and laughter were now dim beyond repair.

"But I don't want to get treated." His tone was forlorn, dead even as those words shot out of his mouth.

"Son...."She started, exasperated.

They had talked about this a few weeks ago and now, she was determined to win, it was for his own good.

"Look mum, I am not going and that's final." His tone was not commanding. But dead serious as he looked her in the eye. His eyes were always the gateways to his soul, and now, they showed regret, pain and a dark void.

It had been years since Sally had divorced Poseidon Jackson and married her son's English teacher, Paul Blofis. But she knew that her son had never once forgot the day when his family was torn.

"It's Paul's idea, Percy."

That seemed to shock him.

Paul had always been a good father to him, never forcing him to do anything.

She gave him a determined look that always won over him.

He seemed to hesitate, then anger flash in his sea-green eyes.

"What kind of parents are you?! What kind of parents forces their kid to go to a mental hospital?" He shouted as he stormed off.

"One that cares." Sally muttered as a tear trickle down her cheeks.

She knew that she had won the fight, but may have lost a son.

But she knew that it was necessary.

And she wouldn't give up on her son.

Not a year ago, and not now.

Afternoon came and Sally Jackson together with Paul Blofis packed up some belongings for their son. Footsteps rang on the stairs as Percy Jackson walked down.

"Soon, Percy, you will come back and that strong, brave teenager will be back." She muttered.

"The old Percy Jackson is gone mum, and he will never be back!" The boy snapped as he carried his backpack and walked into a Prius, stopping only to mutter the words "Bye mum." before the car drove off

Obsidian: He's hilarious. Like, actually. I loved it. You're writing style is great, although you could do with a few less murmurs and mutters. I know it sounds critical, but I have the same problem and I hate it. Overall, it was one of the best stories I've read on here so far. I liked it better than those M...
