Chapter One - The Same
Same. Everything is the same. As it always has been. As it always will be. Alone. Trapped. Waiting. Nothing ever seems to change.
I wasn’t born I was more or less “created”. The beginning of my life was a blur it’s almost as if one day I just started “remembering”. My earliest memory was of me waking up in my room. The room had plain white walls, a closet on the left side of the bed, a vanity in front of the bed, and a bookshelf right next to the door. I remember that day like it was yesterday, yet clearly it was not. Every day after that was the same. I would wake up, go to the bathroom, splash my face with water at the sink, dry my hands, then head to the kitchen for breakfast. Most of my days are filled with reading. It passes the time it allows me to escape from the world I’m so seemingly trapped in. I like to imagine I’m the girl in the books. I pretend like I’m going on an adventure, falling in love, fighting for whats right, everything in between. It’s somewhat soothing. It makes me feel less trapped.
Something’s off today. I woke up, as usual, went to the bathroom to splash my face with water, but something’s off. It’s different somehow. I make my way to my kitchen for my usual breakfast. Everything was perfectly in place but off. I open the fridge trying to ignore that feeling. “What to eat? What to eat?” I wonder aloud to myself. My tea kettle hovers over my shoulder like a sick puppy dog begging me to use it. “Fine!” I shut the fridge and turn around. The little kettle bounds up filling itself up with water, turning on the stove before it finally settles on the cooktop. I open the cabinet, grab two tea bags and dangle the on the side of the teapot. That’s when it happens. The floor jolts. I look around wondering what just happened. Then it happens again. Buh-domp buh-domp. This time it doesn’t happen once. The movements come more rapidly. What is happening?
