Panic

Her first reaction was panic as she frantically felt her chest, her hips, and then reached down into her lap. “Oh no, no, no, no” she said.

Christy pulled back the covers and shot across the room to a mirror. Her fears were confirmed. She touched the short hair, and stared into the eyes of the boy in the mirror staring back at her.

That damned, cryptic, nonsense spell turned her into a boy. This wasn’t supposed to happen, she thought. Christy picked up her phone and began scrolling through contacts. She pressed a button and waited.

A girl answered, “um, hello?”

Christy hesitated, “is Dan there?” she said, noticing how strange it was to speak with a male voice.

There was a long pause, “who’s calling please?” asked the girl.

Now Christy paused, “it’s a friend” she managed, “can you tell him it’s about last night? I really need to talk to him.”

The girl sounded surprised, “how do you know about last night?” she asked.

“Wait” Christy said, “how do you know about last night?”

There was another long pause. “Are you talking about a certain old book from the house down the street?” she asked.

“Yes” Christy said slowly, “what did Dan tell you?”

“Is this Christy?” she asked.

Christy was speechless. After a moment she asked, “is this Dan?”

“Oh my God” the girl exclaimed, “I can’t believe that spell worked.”

“It wasn’t supposed to work like this” Christy protested, “I didn’t ask for this.”

“Are you kidding?” the girl said, “you’ve never wondered what it would be like to switch genders?”

“Well, yeah” Christy conceded, “everyone thinks about it, but no one actually does it.”

“This is going to be amazing” said Dan.

“We have to change back” said Christy.

“We have to try this out” said Dan suggestively.

“Typical male” Christy said, “our whole world has turned upside down and you’re thinking about sex?”

“It’s not typical anything” Dan argued, “it’s obvious. What else do you after completely changing sexes?”

“What if having sex makes it permanent?” Christy protested. “What if there’s a time limit or something to reverse it?”

“Ok” Dan said, “how about I bring the book over, and we’ll comb through it together.”

“Yes” Christy agreed in relief, “thank you.”

“But” Dan added, “if there’s no reason to fear, we get to try this out for a while.”

“What do you mean try it out?” Christy asked, “and for how long?”

“Christy” Dan said, “I just woke up as a cute girl, I’ve never watched the right porn to know how to handle this situation.”

“Gross” Christy said.

“Sorry” Dan said, “but seriously, we could do anything.”

There was a long pause while Christy considered this.

“Are you still there?” Dan asked.

“Come over in an hour” Christy said, “everyone should have left home by then.”

“Awesome” Dan said.

“Bring the book” Christy demanded, “and some guy clothes, please.”

“Of course,” Dan agreed, “one hour, book, clothes, condoms.”

“Too soon, Dan” said Christy, “please don’t make me think about that.”

“The condoms are for you” Dan teased.

“Just come” Christy said.

“That’s what he…”

Christy hung up the phone, and sighed. She looked back to the mirror. This is too weird, she thought.
