Prologue
The child's markings were the color of burning flame. Displayed on her tiny back you would never know they were there. The Phoenix flew away from the fire and into the unknown on her tiny back the details were so small it would be easy to think it was just a weird birthmark. But as she would get older the marking would spread on her back and become a beautiful image of her inner beast. If only her mother had been able to protect her. And maybe this child would have a happy beginning one thing was for sure she was the last Phoenix and a threat to the rebellion of fire.
"What are we supposed to do after all we have no idea were the child could be! Furthermore the dragons demanded the Prince's mate stays untouched. If we find her and give her to them she'll learn the ways of her fire and kill us all!" Sitting at the head of the table with dead eyes he watched the scene in pure boredom. How could these be the most dangerous rogues with fire breathing ability all they did was talk about the bad of course bad was the definition of their souls but couldn't they lighten up a little bit.
"Your majesty what do you think we should do kill her and risk war with the dragons or, hand her over and hope for the best."
He thought it over for a while and eventually discovered there was only one thing that he could do. "Neither," the entire room went into chaos each member of his flock trying to share their opinion on the matter. In a simple movement he removed the dagger from the side loop of his belt. aimed it toward the center of the massive table and flung it. The impact of the blade caused the whole room to become silent once more. "Ever do that again and I'll have all your heads." His voice held no emotion whatsoever. He had said the entire statement with some much ease it scared even the strongest shifters sometimes.
"The girl will be left to be raised by humans once she comes of age it will be almost impossible to teach her another way. A Phoenix has to be taught from a young age to use their fire." It suddenly made sense to them. He had thought his decision through after all he was there King for a reason. "So what do we do now your Highness?" A wicked smirk formed on his lips with an evil glint in his eyes he spoke. "Now we wait." He stood from his chair and walked toward his chamber away from the people he leads.
Whatever the child could do or couldn't he wouldn't let her have the crown. Even if it meant he had to rip her wings of himself.
