The Beginning

With the rise of a new era, and the spawn of the great time of peace amongst countries, all the countries of the world bound together, to help form a defense against the growing threat of the Undead Expanse. They brought together all the brightest minds, of engineers, magicians, technicians, even going so far as to bring in Rangers and Wizards, to test the Expanses weak points and eliminate them. Finally it was all brought together by the greatest Artificer known as “The Mad Genius”, and the most devout Cleric, known as “The Guiding Light.” Who worked together for the first time to breath life into this glorious machine. The machine rose and was given purpose. He was to halt and slay the mighty beasts who sought to destroy civilization. The Xree, hulking abominations created from the pit of mankind’s sins, the site of the corruption. The Draconic Provinces and the Humal Dominion had been struggling since the sites formation to hold back the never ending tide of monstrosities. This machine, given life and purpose, would seek to put an end to this.

It was on the 13th of Jesac, the robot would set out, to fulfill its duties as a guardian. A symbolic date, for it meant the true beginning of the cold lifeless cycle of Jesac. For the first time the Robot activated his optical sensors, he stared around at his environment. He was outside, the sun reflecting off his metallic skull. “Hell... o?” He says looking around, the only living creatures, being the man and women who gave him life. He lowered his hand and they stepped on. The Artificer and Cleric proudly looked upon their creation. “Hello!” The Artificer spoke, his words echoing pleasantly through the Robot’s auditory detectors. “I am known as the Mad Genius by most, but you can call me Father. I am the one who built the brain currently inside of you. This woman here is known as The Guiding Light. But you can call her Mother.” He hugs one of the robots fingers. The robot looked at him curiosity portrayed through blank stares and the whirring of gears. “I want you to look deep into yourself and follow the programming within, there you will know your purpose,” The robot nods setting the two fragile humans down. He looks in the distance, looking off into the grey wastes of the Undead Expanse, and the magical barrier that separates normal society from those corrupted lands. With that he set off, arcane generators humming with archaic power. His lumbering steps carrying him faster than any current form of transportation, short of teleportation. Soon, he is deep in the wastes, most of the Xree stray away from the robot, with its hulking size they have little chance of success in bringing it down. They retreat looking for other, easier, prey to feast on. One does rise to challenge him, a large Spider class Xree, its spindly legs falling in irregular patterns. Its large maw opening up to reveal dripping acid. The creature was easily the size of a small castle, it lunged for the robot hoping to tear off its arm with its acidic bite. The robot grabs it by the neck, and throws it to the ground. The arcane generator’s humming grows louder, as the Robot’s fist glows a brilliant blue, its fist slams into the spider Xree’s face. It stops moving. Black Ichor leaking from its shattered skull. The robot looks down at its opponent with nary a hint of guilt as the robot continues on to the wastes.

With the dawn of a new month comes the completion of one mission and the beginning of a new one. The robot, thus dubbed “The Guardian.” Discovered the source of the Xree an old ruined city, far in the center of the wastes. This, this site of the corruption would be his final task. He quickly cleared the city of Xree, using his skills honed over weeks of work nonstop fighting these nightmarish fiends. Once the Guardian cleared out the final dredges of the Xree. He found the highest point in the city, the once grand fortress. Now the ruined construct of humanity’s sins. There he sits, waiting for the next Xree to leave through there portal. To fight him. So he waited for the eternity of solitude and service ahead of him.
